all calipers will require rebuilding eventually

that being said, the spoon calipers do seem to last far longer than other calipers such as wilwood

several of the A&J cars have had the spoon calipers for 2+ years already. typically, these cars will attend 3-5 track events a year and are daily driven, none of them have required rebuilds, and the calipers are still running 100%

 

However, that's not very long at all (above). 2 years of street driving almost doesn't count, since any caliper should go 10+ years of normal street driving with proper maintenance (any of the Honda calipers, that is). It's the track time that matters, and for a racecar, 6-10 track events could happen in 6 months.

Well, thanks for all the reply guys!! Well, what i should asked was does it require regular maintaince on dust seal like those Wilwood needs to??

But according to spikey, I think its safe to say I don't need to worry about it too much..

Spoon calipers do NOT have dust boots around the pistons. So make sure the fluid is changed frequently so it can last longer before a rebuild.

 

lol mario, for those wanting to know what happened that caliper, let's just say it was draggin on the ground for about 100ft when a wheel broke and the caliper took the job of the wheel.

 

It's the shape of the calipers that needs rebuilt. j/k

can't tell from the picture if rebuild is necessary.
