Hey guys i am going to be building out my car pretty soon and need some smog questions.

In Cali

So Stage 1 Cams/ITR cams are the biggest i can get right? I would love stage 2 but those won't pass screw it.

Will i be ok passing smog with my Car with a 11.0 comp rating?

Setup will look like somthing like this (Still working on details

Camgears, Upgraded ECU, P30 pistions, Crower 401-402s? (whatever passes smog), Tunning (For sure so far unless i change it)

Possible but undecided: LS-Vtec setup, Skunk2 Intake and Type R throttle body, port and polish/or overbored.. .25

Or Turbo (A pain to get anyone to test it with smog even if its carb legal.)

My Goal is 170-200HP I perfer Midrange Power (3,000 or 4,000 to 7,000)

Any good enlightment on Cali smog would be great. Thanks.. So far have saved over 1,000 dollars soon 2,000

 

You wont be able to upgrade your ecu. (1996-up OBD2) for Ca smog diagnostics.

lol thats right. smog suck in cali. that u have to know someone that will pass ur car.

 

I could always ask my Friend at Autozone has a Civic that i know WILL NEVER pass smog i will ask him about it. Then maybe i will get even better parts LOL.

If i can pass my car that way i would love to do LS-Vtec, With Stage 2 or 3 cams and more **** LOL.

Yep, happened to me, except it wasn't towed. However just taking off the turbo kit and everything else and repurchasing the parts (that the shop stole from me) cost an arm and a leg. So far, my car has been stock for 1 yr.

 

just make your motor look stock and pass that smoke test thing and your all good.....
