Default How "swappable" are the new S2000 motors?

My question is fairly straightforward. The new S2000 motors like my 07 have drive by wire, VSA, and probably a few other things.

I drive my S a lot. I probably put 110+ miles a day on it. It's already 1.5 months old and I have about 10K miles. I'll probably get a beater daily driver, but in the event that I don't.....

Are the newest S2K motors easy to swap? One year down the line, will it be conceivable that I can throw in a lower mileage 07 AP2 motor in my car without much trouble? The reason I'm asking is I don't see much swap talk about the 07 w/ DBW and VSA, but I do hear it constantly on the AP1s and early AP2s.

yea you can swap out the motor nothing to it since its all the same.... you wont be changing the ECU so you wont need to get it set for your key because of the immobilizor

there may be some mis-information here.....

you should be able to swap long blocks, but the throttle body is different (dbw) and the emmissions components are different (iirc no air inj sys).....and i am sure there are other things i am missing....

may not be a simple swap, but it should be fairly easy.....just do more research than what you read on h-t or s2ki

Yup, you are correct. But my intent in the future would be to swap in a 07 motor just like mine. I'm sure I could get my hands on one one mine fails at 200K miles

At the rate I'm going, I'll be at ~120K in a year. Oh well.

damn thats a **** ton of miles you probably monitor your gas mileage a lot. you should definatly get a beater. the resale value will suck if you put that many miles on it but you probably dont care.

i would just find a civic dx 1.5 awesome gas mileage. 35+

pretty much.

if your just swapping a motor, your just swapping a motor. everything else will all ready be there since its an s2000 motor going into an s2000.

Sorry for getting OT here but I have a question:

Is the DBW on the s2k noticeable like it is on the other newer hondas? I sure hope not.

Some people have told me they can feel a delay, and others dont even know the 07's are DBW. I guess the only real way to tell is to drive one yourself.

There's no "delay" at all during normal driving. It only activates when you are sliding or actually spinning your tires. Remeber, you can turn it off when you want to and it's totally gone. I think it's a pretty good feature, it'll actually save you most of the time if it needs to.

Just remember to turn it off when you want to show off to your friends otherwise the car will just stop, catch traction, and go straight....and you'll look like a dumbass.

lol well put.

Though I have no input here I would just like to ask the OP something. Why not just buy a beater now to put all those miles on? I wouldn't buy a brand new car, put a million miles on it, then swap an engine when you could just buy a civic to drive to work or wherever it is you go that puts 10k on a car in 1.5 months, at that rate you're going to have 80k on it a year. ouch.

Yes, it would help if I read it.

Well, with the DBW, I was also worried that there would be a delay. In fact, I don't really notice it at all. Honda did a good job on the DBW system on the S2000. I can blip the throttle just as easy and quick as a throttle cable equipped system.

Basically, I don't notice it at all.
