Default Testing Waters for Chicago Meet

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Hey Guys,

So would anyone from the chitown area be interested in havin a FG/FA meet? I think it would be nice for all of us to see how many there are in the area, chill out for a while and maybe grill and snap some pics of the chicago crew.

I'm open to ideas for locations, times or whatever. I know the busse woods out in schaumburg is always a solid place to have a meet, but like I said, I'm open to ideas. I think it would be cool if we could find kind of a more scenic or nicer area to take pics tho... Hopefully there's enough cars to make it worthwhile.

So let me know... </TD></TR></TABLE>

^^Original post

So now we got a date and location:

Schaumburg - Bussee woods and Hooters later
Date: 7/8/07 or 7/9/07
Time: TBD

Map of location

People attending so far:

1. Huevosrancheros
2. TheDR
3. 07si
4.

As soon as enough people sign up, I'll make sure to call and reserve a spot, so the sooner people let me know, the better. There's no sense in reserving something if it isn't going to be a good/decent turnout

Hey Dan, you know I'm always down for whatever. I was thinking about doing this, the busse woods in schaumburg is a nice place. LOL, I was about to post a new topic about this as well

I was thinking about maybe having a bunch of FG FA owners meet up somewhere in the chicago area and then heading up to the Indiana sand dunes.

I can reserve a bugalow there, excellent place to snap pics, grill and plus the beach.

The idea is up in the air

I'm in indiana, but I'd be down for a chitown meet, then going back to indiana for the beach and stuff. I know a friend of mine has an FG and he'd be down too.

yeah dude, that'd be straight... especially since you got a nice camera

I just picked up a lil sony cybershot 7.2megapix... its nice for just a point-and-shoot, but doesn't take as nice of pics as the pro cameras

alright, so lets put some dates together.

There's already going to be a H-T meet in chicago on June 16th, so would everyone want to do it before? After? During?

I guess it depends on what everyone wants to do at the meet. If we did the meet/cruise to indiana dunes, it would most likely have to be after the big H-T meet...

what do ya think?

I don't own an FG/FA but would be down to meet some of the people from the only car specific section of H-T I really frequent. I'll bring the blue easter egg.

07si... id like to also do a sweet photoshoot of all the cars.. i also have a rebel XTI and i just picked up the 50mm f/1.8 II lens and i gotta say im seriously impressed with it. it is far superior to the kit lens for taking car photos. im saving up for the EF70-200 f/2.8 L image stablizer lens next.... ($1800!!!!!).

The lens you are saving to buy is AMAZING. I was messing around with one at Gary Camera. Almost **** my pants it was so nice.

The 50mm f1.8 is an amazing lens for the price. Where are you located at, down for a photography trip? haha

I agree... I hope to get an exhaust on by then, but we'll see.

But ok, if everyone is fine with the 23rd or 24th, all we need is to pick a place. And as I figure it, here's our options:

1. Schaumburg - Busse Woods - Then Hooters?
2. Chicago - Wilson Skate park or any good sized parking lot along the lake
3. Meet up somewhere in the city or burbs and do a cruize out to the IN dunes

So let me know which of these you think you'd be most down for, or give a suggestion if you know a really good place or something

What do you guys think about having other cars there (keeping HondaF1Fanatic in mind)? Do you want it to strictly be only FG/FA's?

Personally, I don't really care just so long as the FG/FA's are the vast majority of cars there. I know I have a buddy with a 03 rsx-s that'll want to go, but he might just end up ridin with me and not bringin his car.

But maybe we limit it to k20's (and R18's obviously) only...? Thoughts?

Nice Idea, I suggest we do it after the HT meet, it's almost here anyway. Maybe we should either do it on 7/7/07(Damn Coold date, whew) or 7/8/07. I think that gives plenty of time for the kiddies to get their rides together for the meet.

I say busse woods so that we can switch it up a little bit, and definitely hooters.

We could the the indiana sand dunes thing in august(Kinda of have to get their early to get a good spot to grill) I'm talking early 0500-0700 if you get there later it'll be overrun w/ my people.

hey dan you should start a poll

Maybe TypeX could edit this thread and add a poll...? I know you admins can do quite a bit on these apps

I have no idea where busse woods is, but I'm sure I could find it. So that date would be fine. We could have other cars there too, but the vast majority be FA/FG's. If you guys want to push it to the 7th or 8th that'll be fine too, that just means more mods lol. Keep me posted.

well here's a little update:

I checked on 8thcivic and it looks like COMplex and a friend will be in Chicago Aug 18th or 19th at the nopi SQ and would like to have a meet in the evening. Anyone interested in that?

I think its kinda too far away. I personally like the idea of a 7/9/07 meet...

If we get enough of a response on here, I'll post a poll and get a real vote goin so we can really get it together

Ok, date is set: 7/9/07

So we go back to these choices for places/activities:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by TheDR &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">1. Schaumburg - Busse Woods - Then Hooters?
2. Chicago - Wilson Skate park or any good sized parking lot along the lake
3. Meet up somewhere in the city or burbs and do a cruize out to the IN dunes</TD></TR></TABLE>

IMO, Schaumburg would probably be the best place to meet only because I know of more spots nearby the woods to take pics... there's the parking lot there w/ a lil pond, streets of woodfield parking garage and some stuff we could probably stumble on. Plus if we wanted to go for a cruise after that, there's plenty of highway right there.

So Schaumburg's got my vote, but if anyone knows a better place that's in the city, I'd rather go there
