Need help for trade in for 07 Si Coupe
Wow, it's been a while since I posted here. Had a 96 Teg then bought a 03 350Z then bought an 05 Toyota X-Runner.
Ok, here's the scoop. I want to get back into the Honda game and I really like the 07 Si coupe. But I need some help/opinions on whether this is a good deal or not. My 05 x-runner has;
- 27k miles
- 20" Diamo chrome rims
- Clarion Touch screen w/Ipod hook-up
Dealer says other than rims, can't help me about the stereo. The coupe I saw was red and has the HFP rims, navi, tint, aftermarket alarm and some kind of dealer paint protection plan where you go in every 6 months and get some kind of protective sealant put on the paint.
The sticker said like $23k and after all the fees and crap were totalled up the final was like 27k. To make a long story short, the sale guys says with my truck trade-in, they could sell me the Si plus $9,000. Is this a good deal? I've been out of the honda/acura loop and don't have a clue. It would be nice if u guys can tell me what you might pay/offer in this situation.

Ok, as far as a number is concerned I gotcha. But, let's talk supply and demand. What if you're in an area with very few Si's at local dealers. Now you would have to pay a premium price because you have less leverage to negotiate, correct?
Yes, but there are a lot of Si's for sale everywhere. If they want to make a deal they need to work. Check ebay too, you might find a local dealer or one near by that would have a smokin deal. Unless you are out in the boonies, there will be plenty of Si's up for grabs.
No, I would get a quote from an outside area and then tell the local dealers to match the price or walk.
I did exactly that and knocked over 2k off the price like none other. It may not sound great, but in my area they absolutely refused to even talk when I said 21,885 was too high for a sedan.

Tell me about it. Anyway, it's true in my area. I called all the dealers and they either had sedans or 1 coupe on the lot. It's not like every honda dealer in my area has like 3 or 4 coupes per lot, that would be different.
Even looked thru autotrader in my area and there was only 1 07 Sedan with 3100 miles and the dealer was asking 23k.

Ya gotta love it when dealers think that a car somehow appreciates with miles. Only a retard would buy a used car for more than it retailed for.

you are getting destroyed on this deal.
1) why the hell are there 4K in fees. This is where the dealer is making extra money. these have to go
2) Take your extras off your trade. The dealer isnt going to give you fair value for them
3) 27K ! are you F-ing me.
4) Need to tell them you are walkin away or looking somewhere else, see how fast that 4K in fees goes away
5) Look somewhere else
a)where are you located?
b) think about a short roadie, it would be a great way to knock some cash off, you fly out, get the car and have a great drive home getting to know your car

Where I live, that price doesn't surprise me. What the hell kind of fees are they adding on anyway? I'd drop the paint protection, Si or not it's just a civic. Sounds like their adding taxes and stuff before the trade in rather than after. When I traded in my old car they applied taxes after, so rather than pay taxes on ~21k I paid taxes on 6k.

just dont be impatient. I got ripped off cuz it was the first new car i've bought and i didnt shop around. if you get a good price from a dealer, but they dont have the exact car on the lot, have them order it. i was told it would get to the dealer in 2 weeks, but they found one in 2 days

I wouldn't go that far...
Definitely a sweet little car, but I think the vast majority of prospective car buyers have absolutely no clue what an SI is or what it represents. It's almost always a suprise to people [my passengers] when I open it up since recently my exhaust has gotten quite deep (still stock, but it sounded a lot weaker with <600 miles).

It isnt that well known. Everytime i tell someone i bought a civic SI, they ask what it is. But the car does surprise people. Not only does it put a smile on my face everytime i open it up, but my passengers always get a smile on their face. Then they never stop asking me to punch it. I think its more of a shocker to people when they feel what it can do for its price. Especially being a honda

Yup, that's wat I'm talkin about. It does matter when it comes down to availability per region of the US. Anyway, some bad news here. I took my truck in tonite and tried to work a deal. They offered me 18k for the truck, which is 3k below KBB.
Then they offered to sell me a Fiji Blue Coupe that was bone stock except for aftermarket alarm. Get this, they wanted a balance of $8,621. This is really dissapointing to say the least, thought I was going to have a new Si in the garage tonite.
My overall impression after the test drive was this. Very smooth and buttery clutch, no notchiness detected in 3rd gear. Acceleration was pretty good, when vtec kicked in that was sweet. Somewhat quieter than the mid 90's vtec prelude.
Interior was very very nice. Nicely laid out. Handling and cornering was excellent to say the least. But with a typical Honda car and torque only being 137, pull wasn't eye popping. Damn, I still want one real bad. I might have to go check out the VW GTI now unfortunately.

Thought OTD price was total cost including price of vehicle, options, taxes, registration and licensing fees.
Have you thought about selling your X-Runner privately and going through the internet sale department?

Yeah I have thought of selling the truck private party, would get the most money for sure that way. But even though, the stealerships out here are charging ultra premimum prices for the Si. Probably because they can.
