Default How to install steering bushings?

Hi, I've searched, and I can't seem to find any info on how to install steering bushings on a 2000 Civic Si. Does anyone have any info on this?

These are the bushings I'm talking about:

Thanks.

does your steering feel unresponsive...? if it does i would check my tie-rod ends and replace them first.

the point is even though this seems to be an inexpensive part you really don't need it. also the installation is pretty straght-forward so i wouldn't recommend trying to do it if you can't look at the rack and figure it out.

however, being that this is honda-tech, and i like to help you'll have to pull the steering link from the steering wheel loose by removing the lower 10mm bolt and loosening the upper on the universal joint near the firewall inside the car. i can't remember which cars have the plastic cover and which don't but you may need to get that out of the way first.

next, jack the car up and break the lines loose (if you have power steering) from the rack.

you'll then have to get the 17mm or maybe 19mm lock nut on the tie-rods loose and unscrew the inner rods from the outer. be sure to take note or make a mark somewhere so that you can get your tie-rods back exactly the way they came appart to keep your alighnment right.

lastly, there are three or four bolts in the rack housing and a mounting strap with two bolts in it. once you get those loose you may not need to pull the rack all the way out, just down so you can get your bushings in place.

just reverse removal and your done. double check all your bolts, you don't want your rack coming loose...you need that.
