Euro-r swap into 97 type-sh
Well my car has been done now for a while but I have actualy had the time today to share it with everyone. After having my car hacked by a butcher mechanic I decided to do things the right way myself. The motor I took out made 195/146 which wasnt bad but wasnt all that great either. I ordered a complete Euro-r swap from Steve at Hmotorsonline.com, they are great there and would reccomend them to anyone thinking about ordering a motor. The only things I did was install an act clutch and 10lb flywheel,a hondata intake gasket and modafied the intake for my rc 440 injectors. Put in my my Skunk2 pro2 cams with the skunk2 valvetrain. These along with a Hytech header and T1r exhaust developed some much better results. Other than that the motor is stock so I know I'm over cammed still, but oh well. On the same dyno as before it made 210/160, thanks to Whip Factory for some great tuning, again. Track numbers to come as soon as I can afford some drag radials or slicks. The line on the dyno graph is the vtec crossover point.

The Hytech header, no cat, and that exhaust sounds great. The car runs great no missfiring, its just that the smoothing is all the way down. If that was turned up it would be alot smoother, my graph from a year ago looks almost the same as far as the lines are due to the smoothing. I am upgrading the ignition and am sure I could use some more dyno time, hell I could always use more of that.
Anyone know what these motors put out unmodded?? I've searched and couldnt find much, from what I've seen its around 190ish.
Peak torque at 4300rpm, on the low cam. Those Pro-series cams certainly produce interesting results.
I'd expect to see a stock engine putting down 180-190, but dynos can always vary.

Haha sweet i have the same swap. i think you should be making more power though i have just a stock Euro R motor and tranny with a header and crap intake with obd1 injectors. making the same dyno results as you

Nice! Thanks for sharing. Maybe put the dyno in the dyno thread too? Does your car still have the ATTS unit? Any future mods planned or are you happy with it?
Thanks and yeah I already put the dyno in the dyno thread. No more ATTS, I'm running the Euro-r T2W4 trans. For this summer I'm pretty happy with it, more or less just working on weight reduction. With such low rpm for peak tq it really moves out of the hole, I cant wait to get this thing to the track. Over this winter some nasty head work is to come with a different final drive for the trans.

EuroJi I would like to compare your dyno to mine if you could post it up. Heres the one of my old setup on the same dyno that I just got tuned on. This setup was the Pro2 cams, rc440's, short ram, weapon-r header w/ 2.5 collector mod. The head was redone with a .015 shave, the block had type-s pistons with Eagle H-heam rods with the same clutch and flywheel. The two dynos dont even compare to eachother, its truely a different car all around now.

what are the specs of your exhaust after the header?? What engine management? I would have expected more hp from this setup. I've seen normal H22a's with a good header and hondata put down 195-200
With pro 2's, 11:1 compression, and euro-R intake manifold......sounds like at least 220whp????

P28 with Hondata s200, the rest of the exhaust consists of 2.5in pipe I welded to the flanged peice of pipe that John at Hytech gave me with the header. The cat back system is T1r which I cut the flange off and welded to the pipe that took place of the cat. If I would have unbolted the exhaust from the header and threw a short ram intake on it it would have made the 220, Dave the tuner at Whip FActory was saying the same thing whe he tuned the car. While it was being tuned I seen it hit 214-215 but wasnt making as much in the mid-range, which I'll sacrafice some top end power for mid-range power and torque. All in all Im happy for the moment but there is still more in there, and I'm sure more dyno time would bring it out. Honestly everyone gets too hung up on peak numbers, dyno's vary too much to really compare. Dyno's are more of a tuning tool, once you pull off the dyno all the conditions your car just got tuned to just changed. Taking it to the drag strip will be the true test
Nice thanks for posting that, I too would like to know the exact setup. What exhaust are you running and was it bolted up when you were on the dyno?

Very nice. Thanks for sharing guys. Chris F, what is the setup on that engine? Are you still using the JUN cams? Also, that lower line (RunFile_001) is the first pull while tuning?

Yeah, pull 1 was the first pull. I'm not sure why it was so low, Dave said there was way too much timing in it, it could have been the Dizzy was set wrong on the old motor.
Euro R motor, JUN cams/valvesprings/retainers, camgears, SMSP header, ITR intake snorkel with a truck K&N filter, two resonator and a turndown for the exhaust. Hondata.

Euro R motor and tranny/obd1 injectors/crappy aem CAI thats been shortened cause of the damn rain/smsp header. the exhaust is the header with 2 3/4in. piping all the way to an es tuning muffler. unfortunately the piping wasnt mandrel bent so i think im losing some power out of that.

WOW I hate replies like this........
A good header and Hondata are not making 195-200 on this dyno, and if they do, it'll be for a split second at peak and have a horrible mid range.
When I compared a 194whp i/h/e setup to my 196whp i/h/e/cam setup it was a joke.......Until 6600 rpms my setup was making 15whp+++ over that setup.
PEAK HP Numbers are GAAAYYYYY!!!!!! Mid Range/Powerband is where its at!
To the PEAK POWER number chasers!
Now I need to get out there so we can compare our 3 cars!
Im lacking the Header/Compression that you guys enjoy, but I still have the JUNs!
I still think you should consider that CUTOUT Shawn......I know you don't want an exhaust like mine, but as we both know it makes power. The Wide Open cutout only made 2whp VS Closed 2.5" exhaust......That tells me a 2.5" with just a muffler is 99% efficient.....The trade off? My car is stupid loud........I'll get sick of it soon and weld some resonators on there.
I also need to step up to a better header......I made 204whp with a Vibrant/2.25"collector, imagine what an SMSP/HyTech would do for me......
