Default Backfiring shifting from 1 to 2 and sometimes 3....

When i move off the car and accelerate through first and shift to second the car give a backfire, it does it sometimes going to third. The loudness of the backfire depends on how aggressive i launch the car.

The car has P30 pistons in a JDM B18C, lighten flywheel, BKR7E plugs CAI, 2.5" crush bent exhaust, no cat stock ECU, timing set at 18 degrees.

I would like to know what would cause this.

Before i installed exhaust i was running the standard straw from the header flange to just before the back arm, with just a resonator. The car was mega loud but it felt like a rocket . after installing the exhaust the car is now totally quiet it feels somewhat quick but still not as fast as i think it should be. My friend told me that maybe i may be fooled by the noise it made and thought it was quicker. Oh well maybe.

Anyway what can i do to tune this motor to make it faster. any little tips/tricks i can do?
What should i do as my next mod?
What plugs should i run?

the car ran 14.4 and i lifted throttle about 35-50 meters from the finish.
on another day it ran 13.5-13.8 consistantly. This it on total **** tires, spinning all the way through first and the top os second then chirping when goin into 3rd.

chip your ecu and tune it. With that compression i would be afraid you are running lean. However with backfiring you are probably running rich and the unburnt fuel is combusting in the header/exhaust.

I have a similar set up b18c1 with p30's, junk2 intake manny and s2s2 regrinds with a 4-1 egay header and test pipe.

Don't use a VAFC it will only screw things up. Go the chipped ecu route!(learned from experience)

oh, as far as the sound...........I know you have seen stock civics with the fart cans on them................you think they go fast?

I was thinking of goin Hondata S300 in about a month or 2, but i am trying to get another ECU and get that one chipped, incase it gets screwed up and i am left with nothing.

I was thinking of ordering a BLOX intake manifold in the next week or so...good idea/bad idea?

How much does you car run ?
what is your ECU chipped with?
I am here thinking of ordering a B&M fuel pressure regulator and NGK platinum plugs? should i?

I am not one to talk too much about a chipped ecu........I know what you should do. lol

I have a solder in chip not removable(old) that is programed for my set up. I need to get mine chipped and tuned...........slack!

Blox is good.........i go for cheap **** that works.

I haven't run my car yet. I just got done fixing lots of little problems like oil leaks and noises. Now I am waiting to get some rims before I take it to the track.

Fuel pressure regulator is not necessary.

Platinum plugs are not necessary.........I am running NGK R5671A-7 (this is just a colder V-power plug) bought them from advance auto under $2 each. I did a lot of searching on HT to find what plugs to run for 11.5 compression and I don't remember what reliable source I found for this info but it works for me. And you will have to gap them and I can't even remember what gap I set it at.....hell i did that in the store with their spark plug gapper yeah I am cheap!

oh, i would pull your plugs to make sure they are not white = lean.

If you get some cams bigger injectors would be a good investment.

Nice.....your car and my car are starting to sound rather similar.... lol
I dont mind cheap ****... once it makes some power i am sure with proper tuning i can get maybe a few more ponies out of it .

when i checked my plugs they were actuall pretty good and even on all four. so i guess my cylinders are all burning correctly, not too rich or lean....

Did you feel a difference from you chip ? where did you get it from if you dont mind me asking ?

the ecu came with the integra I bought a few years ago, it was already chipped. The ecu has an Import Salvage sticker on it I think.........this is a local junkyard/shop in NC that does parts and perfomance mods I think.
