CSX Type S questions? / rev-hang issue / input?
So I'm strongly thinking about hooking up a 2007 CSX Type s (black). I've driven it twice - both times I noticed the rev hang issue and it was annoying as hell (never owned a DBW car before, always throttle cable)
So the questions are:
-would the brand spanking new CSX-Type S's that I've driven in the last few weeks already have had the re-flash?
-If not, where do I go for information to convince Acura Canada to do the re-flash for rev-hang issues?
-would the Hondata re-flash (8600rpm / 5k vtec crossover etc....) work on the CSX Ecu (presumably its the exact ECU considering its basically the exact car as the SI 4dr )
(I read the Revhang thread -saw one Canada specific bulletin for the SI, but nothing for the CSX)
In case some of you don't know, basically the Type S is our 4 dr Si NAVI, but it also has
-Automatic Climate Control
-Heated Seats
-Leather
-HID's
-JDM front and rear lights and bumpers
-EP3 CTR wheels
some other small additions
This is what I'd be hooking up

Very nice car. We always get screwed in America with our cars!!! The 07's all already have the reflash adjustment for the rev hang. I'm sure that means the same for you.
Really? (Acura as well) presumably cause its the same factory?
If thats the case, maybe its just something I can't live with? (no DBW for me)
It was annoying as hell, granted it was only the second time driving it / but it was very hard to drive smooth (NO I'm not a newb)
Anyways, thanks for the reply
any more input on this and my other questions would be appreciated (except from Type X cause I hate him)
Thanks
Will

Lighten up,
it was a Joke (he knows it) he and I go way back on CSi
furthermore, his avatar says "hate me yet"?
don't worry he plays it up
he knows me

I agree that more and more cars are coming with DBW, pretty sure the G35 I drove had it / so did the TL Type S and in those cars it didn't seem as exagerated
Thats why I was asking you guys (the owners of them)
Only problem remains, the CSX Type S, technically it is the exact exact car, I can't see the ECU being different - but just my luck I'd get it and then I'd have to live with it.
Anyone on here have the CSX S?
Anyone able to confirm the ECU is the same ? / therefore Hondata would work (hondata are hard to get ahold of to ask the same question)

i've driven a couple of '07 CSX Type Ss and they were all retarded when it came to rev match downshifts. it was very frustrating like the early FG2s, i was very surprised to find they didn't fix that with the '07 models (like they did with the Si's)
otherwise it's an awesome all around car. good luck

thats pretty cool to see these pics. reminds me a LOT of our US-spec RSX type-S.
as for the "goodies" that come on your CSX-s:
looks like the climate control is straight outta our US Hybrid
the heated seats from (idk?..too many sources possible)
leather no biggie
HIDs, BALLERRRRRRRR!!! :D
front & rear lights i love 'em!
wheels from the older 7thGen Civic only they were 15" wheels, these appear to be 17's?!
all in all, looks like a fun & yet quite comfy setup you're going for here. enjoy, good luck; and if you do get it, HAPPY MODDING!! :D

IMO, if you dont like the rev hangs, dont buy the car.....I drive an 06 Si with the reflash and it's still not like a normal tranny. Basically you have to learn to live with it which blows
I will enquire to see if the ECU's are the same on both the Si and the CSX-S for you!

Demonis: there are some other tidbits like the drawer on the front cubby(don't think Si's have that?) anyways lots of little things.
BTW, thanks everyone for your input
Its appreciated, and I agree that DBW is more and more a fact of life.
keep the info coming

The wheels were already covered up top which are EP3 Type R wheels which are indeed 17 inches. Wish I had them for my Si.

The ECU is definitely the same.. the car itself is the exact same as a US 4dr Si with the added features you've already mentioned. Parts will be interchangable as all parts are the same. If you buy it, you'll be completely comfortable with DBW within a couple weeks of driving it and get the front lip cuz without it the front end is super *****. Hopefully you can get a good deal on it because the asking price last time I was at Acura was complete rape unless you think paying around an extra 7g's for leather and navi is cool.
Apples for Apples here is the price Comparison
Canadian Si $27,655 Freight included (fully loaded - can't get Navi)
Canadian CSX S $34,750 Freight included (fully loaded - no options available)
Yes there is a $7,000 difference, but when you look at the finance rates that difference is basically cut in half.
CSX S adds
-Navi (not available in the Si in Canada)
-Leather
-Automatic Climate control (from the Hybrid or the JDM Civic Sedan)
-Heated Seats
-HID’s
-summer performance tires (the same that come optional on American Si’s, but aren't available on Canadian Si's ?)
CSX S is different
-front and rear lights / bumpers etc…
-different wheels (EP3 CTR)
-minor interior trim pieces (sliding door on upper storage, different trim in trunk etc… etc…)
But when you factor in the Lease / Finance rates (FAR Cheaper for Acura) the difference over the long term is more like $3,000 (between a Canadian Si and the Canadian CSX S), which to me the NAVI / HID’s / CTR wheels / Heated seats / auto-climate control are easily worth $3k (over the Canadian Si)
Here are the Honda rates
Lease rate 48 months 8.3 %
Finance rate 60 months 7.2 %
Here are the Acura Rates
Lease rate 48 months 1.9%
Finance rate 60 months 2.9%
In a perfect world I’d be able to get Navi in a Canadian Coupe Si , but alas the only way to get NAVI in a Civic platform in Canada is in the CSX.
Whatever my next car is, it must must must have NAVI - I refuse to buy a modern car that doesn't have it (I do alot of travelling and it would come in very very handy)

If your finance rate #'s are accurate I would definitely agree that around a 3k difference for the extra options is a wicked deal.
You might want to double check that though. When I was at Acura looking at the CSX Type S with my girlfriend, the finance rate was over 7% for the Type S model.

I just went to the website 2 seconds ago and built one online
the stated rates are 3.9 and 2.9 respectively
also, when I had a call from the stealership on Monday (subsequent to my testdrive) the Salesdude mentioned them as well.
If you were told 7% in May you should go back and ask someone else.
The website says the rates are good until May 31 but the sales dude told me they would likely last through the summer.

hyogen: I’ve actually thought of doing that (get the majority of the Type R stuff)
hellbound1221: funny you should mention that, I live only 45 minutes from the U.S. border
AND !!!!!!!!!!!! because they are all made in Canada anyways, I could bring it back DUTY FREE.
AND right now the exchange rate is almost one for one (about 90cents us for 1 Canadian dollar)
So long story short, I could bring a Coupe Si with Navi into Canada from New York for about $29- $30k Canadian all said and done.
Question still remains, am I willing to pay $3k for Leather / Hids / Automatic Climate Control / Heated Seats / CTR wheels / etc ………………. And when I take it to shows in the US its something nobody else has???? (I think all of that is worth the difference)

I guess the rates must have dropped our the local dealership was just trying to screw people as usual. I was there at the end of March or early April.
Your rarity argument works both ways.. depends if you want a rare car in Canada (ie US 4dr Si w. navi) or be considered rare in the US with a CSX. I've only seen one 4dr Si Navi in Canada and that was at Mosport last summer before they were released and it had tape over all Si badges. I've seen a few CSX-S on the road in the last month.
Both cars are cool.. looking forward to seeing pics when you decide what to do.

I have a CSX(not type-S), and I didn't like the DBW at first either. It was a big diff from my ITR and I totally feel the diff from my RSX-S. I've been driving only the CSX for the last 3-4 months and the DBW doesn't bother me anymore, I'm able to rev match and drive smoothly with it. Took sometime to get used to.
BTW I think the CSX-S is totally worth it esp. with the financing rates, that's why I chose the CSX over the regular civic.
