Default Rev limit...9200??

Theres a kid that goes to my school with an EG...he says it has a gsr in it with bolt ons....h.i.e. IM and it has cam gears...3 inch piping from header, owner before him had it turbo'd....my friend rode in it...it hits rev limit at 9200....and claims it runs a 13.7.....the engine code is sanded off.....to me it sounds like a CTR...what else could it be??..thanks

dont you love it when people have stock cams and dont make power past 8000 but rev to the moon. if he has the rev limit removed all he's doing is killing his bottom end for nothing. its just making alot of noise. could be any b-series motor if the code is ground off

You know what you are talking about? You aren't going to spin the rod bearings by spinning it to 9,200rpms. I wound my last setup this high with 0 issues. before you smart asses say anything, it had large cams. valvetrain and made power as well. It wasn't done for "fun".

1). I never came out and said you don't know ****. I did ask you if you knew what you were talking about. It was a QUESTION, not a STATEMENT. Can you determine the difference between the two?

2). Your immature comments are not needed. You must be a pretty cool 20 year old punk who is used to pushing people around.

3). Did I ever say anything about WHO you were talking about? Again, no. I said you can take the stock bottom end to those rpm levels with little concern. The bottom end is not the problem so much as the valvetrain (read: top end), 'douche bag'.

4). Your latest "motor build up" is childs play. I've assembled over 20 engines now for myself and friends. If you want to compare, I can show you whats currently on the stand right now, but that was not my intention of posting. I was trying to clear up the false myths around here about how the stock bottom end is going to blow up at 9k.

If you don't have anything constructive to add, then leave yourself out of the thread. Don't let your ego interfere either, I don't care about your latest build up or your mad engine building skills. From what I read in your build up list, you have a lot to learn.

There should be a ban rule for anyone knowing of a stolen motor and being ok with that.

u can tell the difference between a b16,c5 and c1 is that the c5 and b16 motors look slight different on the back of the block compare to the c1 engines

Ummm... no. The C1 and C5 share identical blocks.

Exactly. Only real way to tell what it is is to rip the motor apart and look. Regardless, running to 9200rpm is pretty stupid with basicly a stock block setup. There are no real gains to be made at that rpm with just your basic bolt-ons that were mentioned.
