i;m living at school, so no tools or anything, but started getting this loud and really annoying rattle under my car at idle and ~1rpm. sounds like its coming from the cat heatshield but i can't get under the car to check. the speed bump has been hitting the bottom of my car at my new apartment complex, so i'm thinking that caused it.

anyone else have this problem? what was it?

if it is the heatshield, can i just remove it? anybody drive around w/out it?

last time that happened to me....there wuz a lil rock stuck in the heat shield..

 

yup. rocks in the heatshield for me too. i just took mine off and threw it away. just be careful when parking over tall dead grass and stuff.

 

could be your resonator. I had the same problem, then i put my car up on the lift and try to figure out what the hell the noise was comming from and i banged on my resantor and figured out my problem.

 

I got that rattle too, also from the heat sheild i think. Took it to a shop and no one could find it. Mine also rattles around 3-3.5 too. Prolly just replacing the whole exhust system or at least ripping the heat shield off
