Default how to tell curbed wheel?

i'm looking to buy a set of used wheels from someone and it's got scartches on the rim itself. Is there a way I can tell if the wheel is straight or not on the spot? I can tell once I throw it on the balance and see if it spins out of place. i dont wanna get them and find out the wheel is not straight.

You can normally see bends and such with a good eye. You could take a measuring tape and make sure the diameter is the same and multiple spots on the back of the wheel.

i was thinking of a measuring tape too but if it's only off by a little it'll be hard to tell.

Just look at the over all wheel or even get it balanced to see how severe they are

roll the wheel on the ground and see if the wheel is moving in any wierd direction.

even though a wheel is cosmetically bent does not mean it will not balance out on a wheel balance machine and vice versa. the wheel can be structurally out of round and may be unfixable...the main thing you should be looking for are signs of an air leak, bad beads and/or cracks in the wheel.

if you can see the wheels in person then i would really recommend u meet up w/ the seller at a wheel repair shop or even a tire shop for tests

rolling the setup on the ground won't tell you if the wheel face is bent or not. you can only tell when affixed to a balance machine or the car rotor. jack up the car and spin them by hand to see??? if i was selling good wheels, i wouldn't mind stopping by a rim/tire shop but buyer would be paying for the expense regardless.

if its local and your meeting him just put them on his or ur car and look at while its moving but if u can take it to a shop do that. but dont just roll the rim to see how it moves when u can just take 5min and put on a car just my 2cents
