well im always reading about this infamous x-clip an seeing how almost everyone buys a set before hand because they are rather cheap and worth it. but i just dont feel like dealing with that till the end of the week so i was thinking and trying to figure out another way that has to be easier an just as good. so after a little thinking i remember the hid bulbs were in a protective case with a ring piece of plastic to hold it still in the case. so i took that ring, and i thought maybe i could cut this an not use the x-clip? so i cut it a few times, an it fit an that fkin' bulb was not moving at all...my only question is before i plug everything in an turn it on, is will the back of the light where the x-clip would go, does it get hot enough to melt this thin piece of plastic??? cause besides that i dont see anything else going wrong. also i did a search and couldnt find anything. however, i dont have perfect vision...thanks for any help in advance
yes, it will just sit there without the x-clip
but i wouldn't recommend it
that's what i did before i finally put one in
its much better with the clip
its not just loosely hanging there with the plastic cover
the clip keeps it flush and secure
but i wouldn't recommend it

but thats what im saying, this plastic ring is holding it very freaking still..your not supposed to use this ring atleast i dont think..i looks to be for just shipping and handling purposes so the bulb is not loose in the protective case

after countless tries of installing the HIDs without removing the bumper i realized my hands are to big...so i proceed to take the clips out off the top an the ones on the bottom an then the screws on the bottom..then i get to screw in the wheel wells an im turning for days, an it never gets loose..well i peel the wheel well cover back an i can feel the end of the screw turning, and i see the screw goes through 2 peices of sheet metal an into a white/tan plastic clip..has anyone else had this problem and how do u go about getting the screw out? break the plastic peice? will it come out when i break it or will it still be stuck?
