Are S2K's Hot on the list for Stolens? Full Coverage really necessary?
its been on my head for a couple of weeks now. in the near future, i plan on getting an s2k. the only thing stopping me now is insurance. i want my records to be clean for a year or so and rates to go down.
i was wondering if s2000s were any safer than civics/integras. i mean, i see/hear people buying full coverage for s2000s. is it really necessary? and why not liability? (lets just say you were a very safe driver)

do NOT get liability.
things happen. Be prepared for them. You are going to regret not getting full coverage, trust me.

i remember paying a good amount when i was around that age, but 4k a year is nuts. Especially for someone that has a clean driving record. Wow!
To the OP, have you shop around about insurances? Have you check out the difference between liability only and full coverage? Had liability on my first 2 cars, and i will tell you one thing. It isnt worth the headache, there's way too many drivers out there that dont have insurance and anything can happen that liability wont cover the car. Not worth the risk!!!! just to save a few pennies every month.

I remember reading somewhere on MSN.com that s2000's where among the top 10 of cars most expensive to insure. I think it ranked 7th. One more other thing, if the car has a lien on it, you will be forced to have a certain amount of coverage required by the bank the lien is from.

if you own an s2000 or any honda worth a decent amount of money... invest in:
a) GAP insurance (if it's being financed)
b) full coverage insurance
c) good alarm... not a noise maker... something with proximity sensors.
d) seat locks if you own an s2000
here in S. FL at least 6 or 7 members on s2ki have gotten their tops cut and seats/interior stolen, or the car stolen, or something in the last 3 weeks to a month

5500 a yr for a 2003 honda civic
1 ticket and 1 accident in 4 years.
as for insurance for the S, id get full coverage. S seats are pretty high on a car thiefs list, so is slashing softtops.

If you cant afford the insurance, why would you own a s2000?

Plus, since you are a poor person youll probably need a loan to buy an s2k.....youll have to get full coverage in order to have a loan.
I hate poor people.

anyway... about the insurance, my insurance, full coverage with tiny deductibles is still less than half as expensive as was on my teg... go figure that one.. as a matter of fact, my insurance on the s2 is the cheapest i or any of my family members have ever had. my dads grand caravan is higher. wierd.
