98 accord v6 tranny ?
Alright guys I've done a few searches and still haven't came up on anything.. my question is regarding a 98 accord v6(3.0 vtec)automatic My gf just bought one a few days ago and I took it out for a spin this morning, the car has a Lil over 100k miles on it. Anyway when taking off from a dead stop and the gear box is just switching to 2nd there's a real hard jerk on the car.. as well on a few other gears but mainly 1st to 2nd.. I yet have to check the fluid cause she was on her way to work. I've seen a small article but nothing real informative of these trannys, and it doesn't sound good.. any suggestions on figuring it out thanks alot guys in advance
hhmmmm... well yeah that sux, I guess I'm gonna have to break the news to her.. what was the main reason for the recall? Is there anything she can do or is she jus stuck with a ticking time bomb?? thanks again
wrong answer, try again.

00-01 had a warranty extension on the automatic transmission originally for 7 years 100K and recently extended to 7 years 9 months or 109K.
unless Honda offers some sort of good will replacement, look forward to spending $4K to $5K to get it REPLACED. do not rebuild it, and do not j/y a replacement.

I just gotta figure out what would be the best route for her to go. Probably sell it seeing as how the tranny cost nearly as much as she paid for the whole car..
thanks for the reply!! YeuEmMaiMai

I thought it would be a good idea to buy a 98 LX V6 with a blown trans for 6K and rebuild the trans for $3K and drive it for a while. I got the car at 87K and rebuilt the trans at 89K. It was rebuilt again at 94K and again at 99K. so I traded my car in with 100,700 miles on it for a 2002 CL type S with 40K on it and a trans warranty. Overall I lost $3K on the purchase of this car since I traded it in for $6K on the type S.
Damn that sux, well like I said I appreciate all the help I guess I'll just have to see what the lady says about this. I've always had and loved my Hondas and never had problems this extensive but hey I guess you win some you lose some

Kennedy Transmission here in MN. It also had a warranty and it does not mean squat if the people behind it are saying things like it's normal..blah blah blah...you can find my thread in the archives
