As far as I know, all of the auto transmissions share the same gearing.

I used to know a fellow with a low-boost turbocharged automatic '99 EX.

It was slower than a bone stock Civic Si.

And then the transmission blew up, so it was even slower.

no auto with boost will be able to take the beating or produce any power with a turbo, waste of money...

Yep, driving an automatic in an import is like racing in the special olympics, even IF you win, you're still ******* retarted.

Do do a reliable high powered auto civic you'd need to fab new differentials, run beefy axles, and do ridiculously expensive upgrades to the auto tranny so it can cope with all the power transfer.

the ex tranny has the best gear ratios so i would go with that but they are right about the automatic not worth it, in the long run dont waste your money

All the autos have the same gearing.

It's only the manual ex that has superior gearing to the 96-00

No look in the manual, the EX auto has closer 1,2,& 3 gearing than the DX/LX, but same 4th and final...at least for the 96-00 models

True story... my automatic ate it after running a D16Y8 with a JRSC on 7 lbs for 9 months. You could have the best geared Honda auto tranny out there, but it won't handle much of an upgrade in torque.

It's fun at first and then and

you know the 1996 dodge caravan has a real nice auto tranny you might wanna check it out... dont run a boosted anything with an automatic tranny to me it defeats the purpose...........except for like smal suv's i think MDX, Porsche cheyanne etc, but even those im sure would be nice with a manual option........

How does turbo/supercharging defeat the purpose of an automatic transmission...?

well DDD, it defeats the purpose because when you blow the tranny, it will no longer change gears.

at least the OP was nice enough to capitalize every word for us.

I hope you are just talking about automatic transmissions in Hondas. Supras are actually faster with autos than 6 spds.

Also, maybe he has a medical condition where he cant drive a stick. There was a guy featured in Honda Tuning a couple years ago with a B18C-R motor in his EM1 and he couldn't drive stick due to having a problem with his left leg. He found a B16 auto trans and ran it. The thing was pretty bad ***.

You can run auto, but your gunna waste so much money getting it rebuilt with new clutch packs... Go manual for the win, fewer parts to expletive up and easier to work on.
