b18b into eg NO REVERSE!
hey guys i just finished doing the swap today and just had one problem, all gears work perfectly except for reverse. One thing that i thought could be the problem is that we lost the bitch pin while removing it. In its place i put a nut and bolt to hold it in place and noticed that reverse wouldn't go in. It feels like when your gears get sticky on first gear on a cold day (lol best way to describe it). I drove it today and everythings fine, minus the fact that i had to get out of the car to get out of my parking spot a few times
please if anyone could help, or even knows another suspect of my problem please let me know.
Also its on eg hatchback with b18b swap. What is the correct name for that pin anyways? i called honda and when they asked me what part i needed i kinda paused for a second and i'm like "uhhh... BITCH PIN!"

The bolt/nut for the replacement of the PIN should have worked for a temp fix.....how much play is in it though?
You would need to use a bolt near the size of the hole for the pin to make sure there is no loose play.
Until you get that pin, if you wanted to find out for sure -you could put the car back up in the air, remove the bolt -put something up there that is about the thickness of what the PIN would be (screwdriver), then try to put it in reverse -and see if there is a gear there.
THis would help you determine if it is just the bolt/nut combo not being good enough, or if it is that yoaur trans is missing a R.

the bolt i have in there right now fits snug. There's really no play in the shifter. Could it be my shifter or linkage? If it's my reverse in my tranny then that's a bitch, since i bought it off of this forum and can't do anything about it. Any other ideas?
I have a hard time getting into my reverse. its a gsr trans in my eg. but my problem is one of the linkage rods that connects to the pin coming off the side of the tranny. there is no rubber boot in it so there is play where that loop goes over the pin. check yuor linkage and make sure that bushing is there.
hmm maybe i should grab a shift bushing kit. This just occured to me but is it possible that the shift linkage could be on backwards? I mean, if the tranny had no reverse wouldn't it still pop into gear? In my situation it doesn't even go in gear
