I'm running a 2.5" T1R cat-back and high flow cat and was surprised at how different it sounds from most Hondas. It kind of reminds me of a Mazda rotary sound...much deeper sound, and definitely not raspy! My old 2.25" cat-back was a magnaflow which sounded ok but was definitely raspy in the top end. I would recommend you try that (T1R).

what about resonator/muffler combinations ?

my exhaust will obviously have to be a custom built.

2.5" straight pipe with a slight bend to go under my gas tank and then into a TRM canister out the back on my 89 ED chassis.
