civic/crx jdm speedo gauge question.....
I have a 91 crx.
I was thinking of getting a jdm si/sir cluster as the tach redline would better fit the engine thats in the car now. I need a higer redline...a greater mph would also be nice.
All of the clusters I have seen are in kmh and I would like to keep mph.
Has anyone removed the speedo gauge from the cluster and seen if an american one will fit?
Or is there a cluster out there I should be looking for?
Thanks

It wont fit or at least not a direct swap. There is a UK version that has the 9500 rpm max and speedo in mph...Last time there was one for sale here it was close to $500

the edm ones are also cable driven so a little less wiring needed

Go to Speedohealer.com
They sell a box that can be used to modify the signals being sent to an electric speedo.
One of the settings converts KPH to MPH.
Now your 180kph speedo will register 180mph.
The odometer will also count out in miles too.
It is only 4 wires, power, ground, signal in, signal out.
You can also use it to correct for tire sizes too.
It is a pretty cool box, it even has a highest speed recorded button so you can impress your friends or show cops they're wrong.
If you have a JDM ECU that is limiting your top speed, the box can be used to trick your ECU into thinking you are going slower, so the governor is effectivly raised to kick in at ~200mph or wherever you want it.
Have fun, I've been using one for over a year. It's totally seamless, you can't even tell it's there.

I think I'm going to buy this contraption...thanks for the link. I'm getting tired converting in my head everytime I'm driving my Civic, hehehe...
Thats a neat little box....how hard was the setup on it?
What cluster are you running it with?
What was the price?
This looks like the way to go....but I will have to convert my speedo back to eletronic and run a wire to the ecu I guess.

Why not put on a different cluster instead of the SiR one. You can go with a GSR or 99-00 Si cluster. They all have 9500 redline plus they are in mph not kph. I personally like my Si cluster in mine and take advantage to the redline
