Default Intriguing ECU Dilemmas, (ponderings) of sorts. Need some intelligent advice. (Searched)

Thanks for taking the time to read into my inquiries.

Motor specs in sig.

#1) I have been running a P14 for a matter of time after my swap as the ECU that came with my swap does not run correctly (sputters, hates to even think about starting to rev; low level, what sounds like backfires; undrivable). I got to thinking if the P13 is not running correctly could it have something to do with the hardware on the motor? Dizzy w/ the external coil, O2 sensor? Is it possible that an O2 sensor works well enough for the P14 but not for the P13? Should i try the H22a dizzy and see if the P13 runs correctly? Is that even a determinable factor in how the ECU runs? Are the ECUs symptoms symbolic of something specific?

#2) If it turns out it is the ECU at fault, would it be possible to have an engineer here at work take a look and see if it something repairable? Or am i better off looking into another ECU? Which brings me to the next question...

#3) I dont have any internal modifications to my engine, just drivetrain, I/E, would getting a tunable ECU be a route i would be justified in considering, or am i still stock to the point that a stock, or close to stock, ECU will do the job?

Ive had this lovely engine for a while now, ive been feeling very go-getter of late. My trusty faithful 93 is screaming for attention, and deservidely so. I would love to finish what i set out to do when i decided to go with this setup. I have a garage, time and a piece of plastic with a magnetic strip the establishment would love for me to use.

I plan on taking out PS, converting to a manual rack, pulling cruise control and at some point, taking on the body work and aesthetic "beautifying" With all of these projects im going to take on id hate to STILL not have the fabled vtec.

Advice?

Thoughts?

Thank you all for sharing your opinions and experiences.

Double and triple check your cam and ignition timing first.

During the swap my bonerass stepfather just threw the tbelt on and called it good. After the engine was in the car and started, it was obvious the timing was off so i reset the cam timing and had the ignition timing done the same day, so im pretty confident timing is not the issue.

But just for conversations sake, even if it were timing, do the P14 and JDM P13 run with different timing? Why would the P14 run and rev fine, but not the P13?
