Default b16a issues

heres the problem at high rpms anywhere from 6500- to red line my car hits something like "dead spots" the engine isn't bogging the clutch isn't slipping. it does it more than once between those rpms.

the rotor and dizzy cap i just changed i checked a spark plug and it looked a little lean. when it happens it doesn't blow black smoke out like its missing or anything.

it kinda feels as if someone was very gently tapping the brakes.

if someone could help that would be terrific

Only thing I can think of right now is your timiing might be off. You're using b16 injectors right?

You fuel filter could be clogged too, uit's unlikely, but I had a similar symptom at high rpms where it was like that and it was because my fuel filter was clogged.

i highly doubt it's your timing, especially since you said it's never been touched.
it can possibly be your fuel filter, let me ask you, what type of gas and octane grade are you using?

Just take the filter out and take a look at it. if it looks clean it's fine.

A nice person at advanced auto parts can likely check your timing. They might or might not depending on the store.

i can check my timing thats no problem. i actually didnt know the fuel filters came apart i always thought they were a sealed unit. and i use 91 octane but decided to put 93 in it this time thinking maybe that would help but no change

welp i changed the fuel filter an spark plugs and its still doing it. i checked the resistance on the spark plug wires and from longest to shortest it went like this

12.3
10
9
6

now i know with the shorter the wire the less resisance but otherwise i dont know if that means **** or not.

so i have decided it went from having those deadspots to actually cutting out now cause i can hear the exhaust like "spitting" when it has these problems.

ok so i decided to do a compression test on it to c if there was something wrong and it goes as follows from water pump side:

230
230
235
240

i realize that elevation, compression tester, and some other things effect the numbers but whats the average good numbers for a b16a???

not sure if this is gonna be any help but did you buy the b16a from like a jdm importer or from someone else that was running it because when i bought my jdm b16 from Hmotors it came with all the jdm stuff and as you kno you have to change the harness but i had a problem with my swap doing the same thing. So what i end up doing was changing the fuel rail and injectors to USDM ones and it ran fine.

hm...i got it from hmotors but us fuel rail and injectors shouldnt change how the motor runs unless you have a bad injector or fuel rail

Take a closer look at your injectors. Only one plug looked lean, correct? Is the problem slowly getting worse or did it happen all at once (I'm guessing its getting worse from what you described with the "spitting" sound)? The compression numbers don't really indicate the valves need adjusting. Check the base timing and make sure its accurate. Also, make sure that the fuel pressure is up (check vacuum lines, connections, etc.). Fuel pump is another possibility for cutting out like that at high rpms without a cel.

edit: one indicator that the fuel pump is dying is that the motor may be getting slightly harder to start, just another symptom to look for.

no all plugs were like that it does seem like it is slowly getting worse. wut is the base timing suppose to be the fuel pressure is ok i have a fuel pressure gauge on my fuel filter and it is ok.

If you can somehow watch that gauge as the revs get higher, I think that may tell the story.

you mean to tell me you have no midget friends with a strong grip??? You could even be nice and offer to take the hood off for them.
