Default high idle, has me stumped

I did a search guys, and can't really find what I'm looking for. I was hoping that maybe someone else has this issue and can help.

Car is 01 ITR, with 00 spoon crate. It has spoon cams, headgasket. The intake and exhaust are stock with a Hytech header.

Ok, all that out of the way, the car's idle when it's warm is waaay too high. Like 2k rpms. When I drive the car, and push the clutch in, the idle goes to 2k. Now, if I "tap" the gas pedal, it will drop back to normal. So, I'm thinking throttle cable, or stuck throttle butterfly. I cleaned it up, and no luck.

I'm running a chipped p28 with no CEL. I swapped in the Spoon ecu (p73 OBD-IIa) and no CEL, still does the idle thing. I swapped in the stock ecu (p73 OBD-IIb) and again, no codes but high idle.

The car was perfect, and has been perfect for a while. Now all of a sudden, this happens. So, I'm pretty sure it's not the ecu, since all 3 still allow the problem. I'm going to clean the IACV, and see what happens, but it seems to me that if that was the case, then tapping the throttle wouldn't get it to rev down. Then if I tap it again, it revs back up to 2k.

Any quick help guys? I'd appreciate it.

i don't know if this is pertinent info or not, but the car started to "heat up" more than usual too.

The coolant is topped off, but when the car sits idling for 30 seconds or more when it's warm, the temp gauge climbs to the mark just before half way. Now usually, the temp gauge sits between the first and second mark. And when it does "heat up" and then I drive it, the gauge goes back to normal.

I haven't checked my fan yet, to see if it's turning on or not. I guess I should also check the thermostat. The motor is supposed to have a Spoon thermo in it, and it only has 15k on it. But could an over heating issue be causing the higher than normal idle?
thanks in advance fellas.

Hows your timing? High idle can be alotta things, check your distributor. Try going to your local auto zone and rent a scanner see if you can find any abnormal numbers. Can't really think of anything on top of my head rite now, cus im in class. Hope this help a lil

1. Have you messed with the idle screw (in the pic below) at all? Somewhere down the line someone messed with that screw on my car and it made it all outta wack + I didn't know it was messed with, sooo...
(editing photo...)

2. My R warms up to the 3rd tick mark from the left on the temp gauge and that's where my friend's warms up to also, so I'm assuming that's normal? When I datalog the car the temp at that level is around 200 degrees.

I'm no expert, but that's all I know as a point to start from... Oh yeah, and the angle that that screw is set at in the picture is so that the idle is ~800 - 875 rpm.

I am having the same exact problem with my integra gsr. it revs till 2k and then when i blip the throttle it will go back to normal and then goes right back up to 2k. It just started happening out of nowhere. I have cleaned my IACV and that made no difference. what could it be????

I know when my AC is running that my idle is around 1200 (sometimes as high as 1500 but not for long) however i assume thats a normal jump to compensate for the compressor. Otherwise im around 800 or so.

Check to see if there is slack in ure throttle cable or take off ure intake and look at the throttle plate.

And for the record, my car heats up to just about the line before halfway during normal operating temps however i think my thermostat is on its way out.

Mine has always since the day I got it run at one mark below halfway once its warmed up.
My idle is the same, 800 or 1200 depending on AC.

I did have a high idle several times in the past, and I know one time it was a timing problem.
I would check your timing, maybe give the car a tune up, new plugs, check the distributor.
My radiator fan (not AC) hasnt turned on in a couple years. My car doesnt overheat.
In my experience, just for daily driving, you basically have to have little to no fluid in the radiator for the car to overheat.
