Default Suspension/Brake Setup

What's the best suspension and brake setup for an '01 Civic LX?

For suspension, I'm thinking of KYB AGXs, TEIN S-Techs, ST sway bars, and unsure for strut bars.

For brakes, I'm thinking of ss brake lines and Brembo front rotors. Is it worth it to do a rear-disc conversion? If so , where's the best deal on the net?

Thanx guys!

The "Best"? Well, that's an entirely too open question. You didn't specify what the car would be used for. For daily driving, Tein S-Tech's are ok, but on the track they're too soft and KYB's aren't the damper I would go with. Maybe Moton remote reservoir dampers with Swift custom springs and Hotchkis camber plates. That would be a nice setup. Of course, you're looking at about $8,000 in just your spring/damper setup.

Same goes with your brakes. It's all entirely dependent on what you're doing with your car. And, there's no such "deal" for a rear disc brake swap. You'll need to go through the classifieds and junkyards to find a swap.

Oh sry for not specifying. Well, I'm thinking of using my car for daily driving and occasional track uses.

Autozone replacement rotors, Hawk HPS's (for low brake dust), and stainless brake lines will suffice for stopping power.

I, personally, wouldn't buy anything less than Tein Flex's, as far as Tein suspension options go. But, if you want a track-ready suspension, go with either a decent Ground Control setup or a pre-built coilover, like F2's or something of the like.

Which is better, a front sway bar or an x-brace?

Since you don't really see any change (besides the lack of ground clearance) with the X-Brace, I would choose the Anti-Sway bar for sure.

If you're going to do autocrossing, the x-brace isn't Street Touring (STS, STX, STU) legal. It would be fine for the track though.

If you want a decent daily driven suspension, then you could go with tokico blues + tein s-techs.An optimum suspension would be koni yellows + ground controls. Coilover would be overkill for the street imo

i had the xbrace and i took it off to stay in my class i honestly prefer not having one. and as for a suspension set up im running the tein super street coilovers with the pillow ball mounts and i think its a great setup for daily driving/autocross and mild track use.

as for brakes im currently running hawk autocross pads on the front, ill let you know what i think about the rear disc conversion after i put it on. i paid 400 bucks for mine and its coming with everything i need. the junkyard i went through is even throwing in the ebrake cable for free lol
