No, they do not come stock with platinums.

They come stock with NGK V-Power copper plugs.

Go pick some up at Schucks/Kragen/Checker/Advance and gap them .044 .... it'll cost you all of $7.xx

You don't need them. Go to an autoparts store and buy NGK V-Power for your car. They'll have them. The stock honda ones cost 3x as much, and they're the same part.

Hey Eran.. How sure are you they are NGK V-Power installed in my car right now(99 Civic EX 4dr)??

The reason why I'm asking is beacuse if I have NGK platinum I don't want to put in lower grade spark plugs NGK V-Power.

You really don't know anything, do you?

Platinum is a crock of ****. It really is. They say it lasts longer, it doesn't. They say it combusts fuel more efficiently, you won't notice. They say it ups your horsepower. That's a lie.

Take out your spark plug .... if it looks like this:

You can save yourself some money and buy what Honda uses for $8.

If it doesn't, you can stop listening to me .... and you can go pay $5.99 per plug for platinums.

Listen to Eran, he knows his ****. Even if they did improve efficiencey and duration of life, why would you spend the extra $15 dollars or so on plugs that really won't do **** on a stock motor?

OEM honda ignition is very good. Just get the coppers like Eran said.

Gaining efficiency/power by sparkplugs is a myth.

The factory spark is plenty enough.

It took 4 advanced auto dumbasses to not figure out how to swap in spark plug wires in my moms v6 infiniti.

I had to drive 20 miles to the store she was at, fixed it in 5 minutes and told them they need to reconsider career choices.

And I was 17 at the time

The Owner's Manual for the 1998 and 1999 Civic list the NGK Part No. ZFR5F-11, which is the NGK V-Power.

This is also the same as listed at San Leandro Honda site:
