Upgrading 6th gen stereo with "newer"

Can I use a 7th gen Honda OEM stereo (CD in it) to upgrade my cassette-radio OEM radio?

Now that I finally bought my '97 Accord (F20B engine here in the UAE) I want to slowly "upgrade" things..

Im not sure about the radio thing

but a 97 accord is a 5th gen

OK, if the '97 is a 5th generation, can I still upgrade with a "newer" OEM (Honda) CD radio unit?

Why not just buy an after market cd player?

You'd be better off sound quality and feature wise to go this route.
