RSR reviews
I started ordering the parts to go through the head on the '94- cam, valves, etc. The police around here are *****- they write a LOT of tickets for cat-back systems. I was looking at the RSR EX-MAG cat-back systems.
The company claims their system to be MUCH quieter than most cat-backs on the market, unpolished 304 SS to not bait police (same materials as "popular" systems, just intentionally designed for "sleeper" application for noise/looks).
Any experience with these systems? For the '94 not cheap- around $600, but full SUS 304 build, so it should last. If they do run quieter, they would be worth the money.
I went to court a while ago r/e a speeding ticket. About 25% in the courtroom were young guys with fixit tickets for "loud" mufflers. Just one of those cities where the police are given WIDE discretion when judging "noise" (really just a way to raise revenue)
Can't beat the system here, need to stay with a reasonably quiet system that doesn't advertise "write me up" with a mirror finish torpedo tip. Very serious here- install a "loud" system and eat the cost when you tear it out on a fixit ticket.
Also, decided to go with a DC 4-2-1 header (ceramic). If this header is installed with a quiet cat-back system, how will it be for "noise"?
For comparison, I currently am running a "60" Flowmaster on the original pipes. Not the quietest of scavenger mufflers, but so far the police have left me alone. Maybe because I run a smaller tip, not a large/bright one the cops zero in on, and the Flowmasters, although not quiet, runs at a deeper pitch, not the type higher pitch you can hear for 2 blocks.
Input for the RSR systems and the 4-2-1 header with a quieter cat-back appreciated. If not, input for the 4-2-1 header with another cat-back that will keep the whole system reasonable would be appreciated. thanks- Wrenchy

I've had the RSR on my car for 7 years now without any noise problems. When you first install it, it sounds just like stock. After a few years it may get just a bit louder, but still way lower than your avg exhaust. Lets just say I can still hear my radio at a low volume with the exhaust.

My clearance is good and my car is moderatly lowered. I drive a whole lot on the freeway and it's def. a great kit next to the old school greddy and it's a great sub for a touring medallion from tanabe. I got mine for $150 brand new... I don't mind that it's polished, it looks great! I'm please with the amont of noise...next to stock.

I just got my RSR Ex-mag installed and wow... My previous exhaust was a custom exhaust that had a huge tip 4" or so with 2.5" piping and it was fairly loud. I got the RS-R Ex-mag installed (got it for $150 brand new in box
) and when the installer turned on the car I was looking at the other end of the muffler shop thinking someone else car was turned on because it was super quiet. I then drove it and wow... I mean it's quiet but you can still tell there's good air flow going through it because it's just awesome. Definitely a
