"vortekz" fins on a civic?
i know theyre really meant for evos and subbys, i dont know if theyd serve a function or not, look good or look like ***, but im curious to see these vortekz fins on a civic. im not sure if they have a different name, i just saw the banner as an ad above forum and it sparked my interest. here is site for reference. http://www.manufacturersdepot....77/.f
anyone got pics of these on something other than evo/subby?

yeah they look very natural with that car. im not so sure on a civic. but theyre only 20 bucks and im almost tempted to see what theyd look like on my black em1 ;p
im sure that i would get flamed. but i also thought those same thoughts, it COULD look hard, and im sure someone in town would buy them if i wanted to get rid of them haha. wanna see some pics tho still
Im curious too... i saw the banner and instantly thought it was bull but they might not look bad *on the right vehicle* Someone do it, take the bullet for everyone else lol.

It's called a vortex generator.
Pretty much retarded for vehicles. A vortex generator, is typically found on the leading edge *front part* of an aircraft wing. It allows the wing to have more control at the trailing edge (where control surfaces are located) of the wing by 'diffusing' the boundry layer of air. Faster you go, the thicker that boundry layer becomes. So, thus it reduces drag and kind of regenerizes the flow of air and reduces it from being 'thick'. SO - Air is thicker when it travels faster, sticks more to body; these fins 'mess up the air' so it becomes thin again.
However, on a vehicle which typically sees average speeds of 30-50mph, something like that is strictly for the 'show factor'. And not only that, those are all placed INCORRECT. The only 'parts' of that that are working are the two most inner 'fins'.
I see no benifit, other than it makes your car look plane stupid. Unless your car is a top speed dragster or something like that, only then would I see a reason for them...there is so much parasite drag on vehciles as it is (Mirrors, underbody.. anything that sticks out) that that vortex generator is probably ONLY increasing performance by 1%.
Two thumbs down
