Default holding rpm's

i noticed when im driving around 4000 rpms and when i go to shift the rpm seems to hold there. I mean every car that ive ever had have been pieces of crap but i dont know if u guys have experienced this before. Is it a feature the car bring or what. i just thought it is weird.

It's the drive by wire system. I bought my car a month ago and that was the first thing I noticed. When I took it in for the inspection sticker they told me that the drive by wire system in these new cars hangs the RPM's. You'll get used to it, I have.

Ah the EPA, ruining fun for car guys since the 60's and 70's

What they do is great and all, but there should be some sort of exemption that we can pay to get us out of that, if we want. Sort of like the pass to drive in the HOV/Carpool lane alone.

Isn't there a TSB on this that reduces the hang? It may not cure it 100%, but it might improve it.
