Default speaker fitment

Ok, I'm looking at getting the Infinity Kappa components for my 94 teg, but Crutchfield's site says there is some sort of fitment issue. Has anyone installed these on their teg? I think all I need to do is cut a hole in the plastic so it will fit, but I've heard it's a bad idea to put holes in the plastic. If anyone can clarify let me know. And yes I did a search. :\

So you mean my stock speaker cover won't fit over the speaker, right?
Doesn't the component set come with new speaker covers?

Alright.. and as far as mounting depth, would cutting the plastic sheet in the door hurt anything? Or would I need to make another modification?

Thanks for all the advice BTW

Well, we have very little in the way of knowledgable car audio people around here, so that's why I came to H-T first.

The only thing I'm really concerned about is whether cutting that plastic sheet could let water into the door or something. I'm not worried about the install looking OEM or not, as long as it's a good solid fit.

cutting the plastic basket inside the door wont hurt anything. I have been employed as a certified audio installer for over ten years. many times, I completely remove the basket and replace it with a thicker spacer ring to allow the magnet to clear the window track.
