Default 2001 Accord EX Will not go into any other gear than park

I think my transmission might be giving me issues. I have a 2001 Accord EX (automatic). If I am starting the car & placing it into DRIVE or REVERSE I have a hard time getting the lever to actually move after pressing the button to engage. The button goes in without issue but I can not slide it into the other gears without playing around with both the brake and the gear for a bit.

Any ideas before I take it in?

Call the dealership. Our 6th gen Accords have a tranny problem. And is entitled to tranny replacement. Is ur D4 light blinking???

And also i think that shift lock sounds broken. Maybe a new gear lever??? Someone will say the correct one

OK I will. I think the tranny was changed out at 50K for free because there was a recall or somethin. It is at 144K now. I will call them first thing tomorrow. Thanks!

ummmmmm just to make sure. There is tranny fluid correct? The fluid has been changed? at least every 30,000mi? And there is enough?

well if it shifts normal, and you park on a surface where the car would roll if left in neutral, then heres what to do, because the tahoe is uber hard to move the lever if not parked right

1. stop
2. put er in neutral
3. set the parking brake anb take ur foot off the brake to make sure it doesnt roll
4. now put it in park and lock the car

it will go into gear hella easy because the weight of the car is loaded up on the rear tires so there's no stress on the tranny guts
