Default front end problem

just finished some front end work (cv axle, struts ball joints tie rod etc)when i put everything back together i noticed the back of the steering knuckle was contacting the strut spring..the strut and spring are in correctly....the upper control arm has a downward angle shud it be more level?...i tightened everything withe the lower control arm raised...also the tie rod castle nut is so far up on the stud that when you poke the cotter pin thru it does not make contact with nut,the nut is higher on the stud... i am going to loosen everything up and start over in a.m. shud i keep the lower control arm jacked up during the tightening and torquing process...in the manuals instruction they make reference to jacking up to simulate ride height ...what is this and how do you accomplish that...also i did not torque the pivot bolts for uca until everything else was tightened....the suspension dipped after pulling out the jack...thanx compo1
