will a bad knock sensor affect much on OBD2 ?
my 96 civic ex is only throwing a code for a bad knock sensor, yet it is occasionally sputtering aka hesitating upon acceleration. it seems like when I reset my ECU it runs a lot better until the check engine light comes back on..
I called a honda technician and he said it will run like **** without a good knock sensor reading.. does anyone agree? is that a way around this without buying a new sensor?

Yes, it will likely run in limp or alter the timing like the guy above said.
Altered timing/limp = motor that runs like ***.

well, i was going to convert to OBD1, would a P28 OBD1 ecu pull from timing also without a good knock sensor reading?
will all of the OBD2 sensors on my D16y8 still function properly with the OBD1 conversion?

i don't need it tuned, i'm not going to have my built turbo b16 in for at least another 3 months or more.. right now the engine is completely stock, i'm just doing the OBD1 conversion because it will be done when i put the b16 in anyway
so would the P28 OBD1 pull from timing without a knock sensor reading????
