If you want the absolute best performance, you don't care about price, and you don't need to use these tires in snow: Goodyear F1 GS-D3, 205/45-16, $126/tire after rebate at Tire Rack. Excellent performance on dry roads and in rain, decent treadlife.
If you want the best performance but a good value as well, and you don't need to use these tires in snow: Avon Tech M500, 205/45-16, $59/tire at Tire Rack. Very good performance on dry roads, excellent in rain, decent treadlife.
If you want the best performance but a good value as well, and you need to use the same tires in snow as you do in moderate to warm temperatures the rest of the year: Kumho Ecsta ASX, 205/45-16, $60/tire after rebate at Tire Rack.
