how much hp will i get and would it be worth it to take off my p/s. i jus took off my a/c yesterday?

 

ac reduces about 3-7 horses/2-5 miles to the gallon when running. idk about power steering though.

 

The dyno results I've seen for a B-series indicate a gain of between 4-7 whp from removing the power steering. D-series results should be reasonably similar. Gains from from removing the A/C would be negligible, since the A/C compressor has a clutch that keeps it from engaging while the system is switched off.

 

Likely not worth the headache and lack of A/c unless it's a fulltime track car.

But for me, I'd like to have it on my track car. I loathe being hot.

Why would you take off your AC? I woulda kept that if anything. I had a EJ2 with no AC last summer and it sucked.

idk about it being negligible cause i felt a little umph under the pedal. explain more in depth into the last line you had. i took off the whole compressor, a/c radiator, fan, all lines, and belt. i thought i got some hp.

is there anything special that i need to do in order to remove my p/s?

 

You will need a manual steering rack or you have to loop the steering hose back onto itself.

The A/C compressor essentially spins freely when the A/C is switched off. Therefore, there is basically no extra drag on the engine, and no real power gains from removing the system.

When removing the PS, many people chose to use some form of loop setup connected to the open fittings that are left on the rack.

 

OMG YOU TOOK OFF YOUR A/C FOR HP. Give me your A/C man.

haha...DON'T DO IT....I'm trying to put my PS back on man. I have been driving without it for yrs and it gets a little old and not worth it.

Taking PS off DOES NOT GIVE HORSE-POWER YOU HP-HUNGER...yes, it does free up the power of your drivedrain of the crankpulley for a little better rev. But you can't even tell for ****.

It's definately not going to give you 1/10th of a second off of your 1/4.

Even if it did i would still rather be 1/10th of a second slower and comfortable.

So which is it?

Removing the power steering (or even simply the PS pump belt) has been dyno-proven to free up anywhere from 4-7 whp on on a B-series. Whether or not you can personally detect that power difference, it's still there.

 

i def am starting to regret taking my ac out of my car. but i woulda had to get the del sol bracket and crap, im just too lazy and i always have my windows down anyway

I can certainly understand that. Even in the Northeast, there are times when I wouldn't want to be without A/C.
