should i buy this high mileage civic?
Hi, I am a noobie and I wanna know if I should buy this civic that's for sale. It's a 2000 civic ex w/ 180,000 miles. The car only had one owner and the timing belt had been replaced 10k miles ago. The owner is a women and she is asking 3grand for it. Is it worth it? and is there anything I should look for when checking out the car? thanks.
Clean title? Clean body? Interior dmg? 3k for a 00 EJ is worth it in my opinion so long as the title is clean and the body is straight. Most people pick up 92-95 EX's for around that price. I would jump on it as long as there aren't any hidden problems

Jump on it. Its worth it in my opinion. Even if the locks dont work, the window motors are slow and the moonroof motor is shot it would be worth it. Stock is better, make it your own. A D16y8 used will cost you next to nothing.

My 2000 has 145K miles, and some of them where VERY HARD MILES. It still drives like new. I'd try to knock $500 off or so, but wouldn't have any hesitation that it would be a good car. If she maintained it properly, your golden.
i would jump on it, i bought my 97 hatch for 5k w/ a clean title. Before i did my swap, the motor had 182,000 miles on it, i put some simple bolt ons and the car ran even better, plus i was still getting good gas mileage.
I didn't koow these cars were worth so much i sold my 98 civic ex for 2200 because i thought that was all it was worth plus it had a little over 90,000 miles on it my friend said that was all a high milage civic was worth

sure it's high miles but it's a honda right? and worse case you do a motor down the road.</TD></TR></TABLE><TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Exploder39 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Honda's run forever. A car is how its treated, yeah, like most mid 90's domestics that are built like **** won't last too long (especially not 180k) but as far as a car running forever it's all how it's treated, how it's driven, how often ****'s changed, etc.
As to the OP, I'd jump on that, even if the motor's shot you can practically get Y8's for free. They're a dime a dozen.
Also, stock is always a plus. Definitely go for it, it's low enough, I wouldn't be a jackass and try to haggle it some more, but whatever.

if maintenance was kept up to date, get it. I bought my Del Sol with 212 000 bucks for 2g, and it now has 244 000, still no problems with the engine. Just take care of it and it'll take care of you.
