Default Prelude Transaxle Question

I'm sure this is posted somewhere else in the Prelude section but I can't ever get the search function to work for me.

I have a JDM H22a on an M2S4 (H23 trans. I believe that's the correct code). I'm going to the track now and getting beat by cars that I could previously take but I'm keeping up in the long run (highway) with cars I could never stay with before. I know the 5th gears are different and because of the higher rev limit and longer 5th, there's a higher top speed. But what about in the short race? It doesn't seem like there should be any differences. But are there?

I guess the simple question is, which is quicker not faster: An H22 on an M2S4 or the same H22 on an M2Y4? And why?

you understand how gears work right? longer gears mean you can achieve a higher top speed granted you have the power to reach it - put it bluntly. shorter gears means the opposite. so compared to longer gears if you have a shorter gears you're going to reach your [reduced] top speed faster. higher gears are more towards fuel economy. what do you mean short race? like short track? if that's so then obviously shorter gears are your best buy if the track is too short for you to reach your to speed. if any of that makes sense. feel free to correct anything please.

Ok, not to sound like an ******* but that came nowhere near answering my question. Yes, I understand how gears work.
I'm asking which has shorter 1st-4th gears; M2S4 or M2Y4? Or are they both the same with a different 5th?

Why is this such a difficult question to answer?

no one wants to answer a question that you already answered yourself, genius.

If your going to the track and losing to cars you beat before, then the h23 tranny is not as good as a h22 tranny on the short game..use your brain.

i to have the same setup, jdm H22a and a H23 tranny, i heard it doesnt really make a diffrence on 1/4 mile tracks as long as you shift earlyer like at 7000rpm intsead of 7500. And i to expirenced a highway race where i was neck and neck with a SrT4, which seemed crazy to me lol; we did a 3rd gear pull and 4th and when he shifed to 4th he left me.
But bottom line WE Need H22 trannys, unless we are going turbo
correct me if anything i said was wroung

That's not neccessarily true. I've been building and and racing H23's since I was able to drive. I don't know my H22 like I've known my motors in the past. It's not the same power band. Plus, my H23 was putting out more power than my current H22. With the longer times between shifts and the power difference along with the fact that I've never driven an M2Y4, it makes it hard to tell which trans is slower. I wouldn't have asked this question if it was that easy to answer. Thanx for your input anyway, *******.
