Cold/Hot Dial Broken
I have a 1994 Honda Accord LX and the cold/hot dial seems to be broken. I remember one day dialing from hot to cold and felt a "snap!", then it's just loose. Can someone tell what / how I check or fix?
The ****? I had the fan control **** broke on me. Anyways I was too lazy to buy a new one from TAS or from dealer, so i just superglued it back on the cracks. Another way is to duct tape it tight again.
Yeah those ***** suck! Ive broke my temp control **** 2x.
1st time: sealed the cracks again with lock tite glue....worked for a while
2nd time: sealed the broken piece back to the **** with lock tite glue....then made and aluminum sleeve cover for the ****.
If this breaks I give up on them!
Lock tite is supposed to slightly melt plastics to bond them together.

i've had the same problem ever since ive gotten the car. Just go to a auto shop, local or something. Get them to order you a few *****, cause you'll need them, i think their maybe 5 bucks.
mine cracked and i wrapped it back together with clear tape. but the best way is to just go pick one up at a dealer or junk yeard, they are like only a few bucks. and the removal and install is just a simple slide in slide out.

Well... the **** itself is intack... no visible cracks. I thought may be something behind the dash broke loose from the cable or something. But may be, like you, the plastic inside (where I can't see) cracked just enough to break loose from whatever it's attached to that turns and pulls the cable.
When I turn the ****, I can feel "clicking" similar what you would normally feel and hear, but a lot less tension. Whatever it's doing now, it's not moving the "flaps"... nothing but hot air.
Can I just pull back on the **** or pry it off to see what actually broke? Like I said, the **** is intack from what I can see. I haven't tried pulling on it. I would think I'd have to pry it off, but I wanna make sure before I make things worst.
PLease heeellllpppp... it's summer/spring now and the hot air isn't "ok" anymore.

dont be scared, take a vice grip to it and just pull it off. just make sure to pull striaght back and not at a ngle. go to honda, buy anew one for like <$5 and pop it back on and your good to go
The cable that controls your hot/cold selection has a little rubber grommet in it with a vertical hole that slips over your switches mechanism. If you remove your radio you can put your finger behind it and feel it slide left and right when you rotate the ****, it's a small plastic vertical rod. Your cable should be above it just sitting there. The opening is small but if you have thin fingers you can push down on the tab holding the little plastic rod enough to get the cable end back over it so you can work the grommet back down the rod.
Mine slipped off last year in my 4thG. just figured it out the other day when the weather was scorching and I was tired of having no cold air. It clicks because it doesn't have that cable connected to it for resistance.

Sounds like my cable is definitely off, based on what 4G said.
Here's a tip I got from anothet forum.
If you want to temporary fix this problem and get the cold or hot air, which ever you want and your cable has slipped off... do this:
Under the hood, against the cabin wall on the passesnger side, there's a host (radiator water) with a lever and cable attached to the lever. This is what the ***** controls to open and close to allow hot (radiator) water flow into the vent for hot air. Close or open it depending on what you want. It's work for me so far until I can see/fix this cable/**** problem.
4G, I'll see if I can see it after I remove the radio.
