hids?
so i want to put hids on my eg6 and dont want to go with halos or projectors cause i like the oem look...any ideas what kind of headlights i can get that still look stock but i can use for hids....need help thanks guys
so keep the stock headlights and use casper shields and d2r bulbs. look here http://www.hidexpert.com
The glare that hids cause is caused by light reflecting of off the botom of the reflector and shines upwards.
The casper shield is a small "shield" that prevents light to reflect form the bottom of the reflector. Its placed under the bulb (between the bulb and the reflector)

Before you invest in $150+ plug and play kits that arne't street legal and blind oncoming traffic, I recommend you get some good halogens.
Try the phillips Xtreme, it's not purple, but it actually lights up the road.
Are you doing it for looks, or tired of crappy lighting?

Casper shields are a form of "glare shield" that also serves as a mounting adapter to fit a standard D2R HID capsule in an H4 halogen housing. The do reduce glare and allow the capsules to be installed, but the results are still less than ideal.
or if you want to keep the brights some e46, but those might be to big for the eg headlights.
try contacting a guy on here called "jdmlifestyle" he did a retro on his eg headlights

ive got the casper shields and acura d2r bulbs in my stock 95 civic housings, and the results are pretty good with minimal to no glare. i also have audi a4 projectors with acura d2r bulbs in black depo headlights in my 94 civic these have the perfect cutoff and have no glare. im extremely happy with both setups, as they both give me much better lighting, and i dont have everybody flashing highbeams at me like i used too with my old plug n play kit. although it did cost alot more for the audi and depo setup. good luck with your setup, if done right you will enjoy it far better than any halogen lamps.

when you retrofit, it is expensive but well worth it.
I ended up spending $550 on my HID setup with TYC projector headlights. They were awesome.
Using the stock headlights just sucks, maybe like said find some depo lights, they are very similar to stock headlights but they have projectors instead, then you can use these to retro HID. But, they are hard to find these days.

retrofitting takes skills...specially on headlights that come stock with reflectors bc u gots alot of trimming to do yet u gotta make it look nice.
If u buy projector headlights and want to swap hid projectors for those halogen projectors already in your projector housing...chances are, sucky projectors such as the s46 and valeo's will fit and u won't benefit much from those.
