Default Bad ignition switch?

My friend's 93 prelude S with an H22 swap just turned off on him when he was driving around. The car will crank, it is getting spark, and its getting fuel. It sounds like it has normal resistance in cranking so im fairly positive the timing belt is not broken. I'm gonna go check that out tomorrow, though by taking off the valve cover. but when an ignition switch goes out, what actually happens symptom wise. What does the car do or not do? Is there a recall? Can he get it fixed for free? If there is a recall, where can i get info on this?

LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WITH EXPERIENCE!!

please just dont tell me what you hurrd.

nope. forget i said anything. My friend's distributor must have died. One day the car turned off on him. So he switched the distributor. He was told by the local honda shop to wire the plug wires in a certain order. Either there was a miscommunication or he got the wires tangled and confused, or someone got it wrong. Anyway....He had one of our friends look at it. He's a tech from honda. The tech checked that it was getting spark, and even took off the VC to check for a good timing belt. lol so i figured SOMEONE must have checked the plug firing order. I never looked at the car before today. It took me 5 mins to unplug and re plug the plug wires. vroom vroom. Problem solved, and im a genius.
