Turbo D16Y8 OPEN PCV Box OK or NO?
I know the PCV and catch can issues have been beaten to death on H-T and I have already researched it a bit (before people start start flaming plz). I found a thread concerning turbo B-series motors and someone noted that not having anything hooked into the PCV black box can result in damage to your ring land. Is it the same case with the D-series engines (specifically the D16Y8) even if you have the case well-ventilated into the atmosphere through a baffled catch-can? Right now I have a tube mounted high coming off of the head into the catch can and then a vent hose and breather filter off of the can. The actual PCV valve coming off of the "black box" has been removed and is just open into the atmosphere. Is that enough or do I need to hook the catch can up to the PCV box and/or possibly take more precautions? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
