Today i traded my '92 Talon Tsi (i HATE dsms.) for an 86 CRX Si

its got the little 12v motor.

The bodys condition sucks, but i need some information..

what parts are interchangable between 1stgen and 2ndgen CRX's and EF civics?

im really gonna have a problem with the plastic peice that goes in front of the hood... :/
im also gonna need to buy new doors as the ones i have had all the outside trim ripped off of it and im completely new at doing body work.

other than that, (the guy i got it from) is bringing me a B&M short shifter, the original Si wing (never seen it) and some Halos tomorrow..

also, whats the chassis code for these cars?

NO body parts are interchangeable between 1g and 2g CRX's. You'll be hard pressed to find anything that swaps over.

hm. i need some explanation of what chassis code first gen CRX are e.g. CB7 (90-93 accord)

also i need to know where the best place to find used CRX doors and Nosecaps are.

yea. the car is pretty much complete hell right now, ill try to get some pics tomorrow.

im REALLY hoping the guy that i got the car from realized that you cant put 2nd gen CRX headlights in a firstgen....


whatever though. if they're 2nd gen headlights ill put em up for sale.

im hoping to restore the cars exterior and interior back to "mint" quality before making any huge motor upgrades.

i use to have one of these, i loved it. wish i still had it.

 

Alright today was eventful.
First i finally got the car to hold a charge after cleaning the battery terminals and checking all the wiring.

i climbed up under the car to look at the linkage which became disconnected. ill be reconnecting the linkage tomorrow, as of right now, its stuck in 1st gear.

i recieved the short throw shifter today. its nice. its red and im still unsure of how much this is gonna take off of my stock shifter hieght but from the looks its gonna be anywhere from 3-5 inches. im not sure though. that'll get installed tomorrow.
as well.

i got the headlights and stuff from the guy i got the car from... turns out theyre 2nd gen CRX projectors and corners and parking lights. :[

that sucks bad. currently i have NO headlights :[

either tomorrow or the next day hes bringing me a Combat body kit that he was going to put on the car... i dont know what ill do with that. i figure i could trade or sell these headlights with someone who has first gen headlights and the bodykit... well... i already know where its gonna go if it isnt for 1st gens (probably not.)


another thing i was thinking about instead of selling them, could i retrofit the headlights to work on my car?

also im looking for some 1st gen fenders if any one has any..

lol, the talon was an automatic with more wrong than it was right.


i got the shift linkage hooked up today though im missing the bushings so it feels horrible. :[

any recomendations like silicon that i could just spray/ squirt in between the coupler?

 

but the boost... tsi awd boost.... bad bad you!! call a local junk yard, i bet they will have a few 1st gen crx's...i know my yard has like 5

uhm, what happens (like symptoms) when your clutch slips?

 

you replace the clutch! On the realz though, how bad is it slipping? Is it only slipping when you take your car 2 redline and shift or is it doing it at low rpms also?

 

nice as for the lights yes you can make them fit ,ive seen it done ,go on redpepperracing and search for david21ky i think ,he has done it allso has the corner light off a second gen on his first gen with soem work they do fit

as for the combat kit ,there was one made buy Andysautosport for the first gen keep it

and for the fenders ebay sells fenders ,stock replacments and m3 and f1

as for the hood ,again go on RPR and look up Mr.disability he sells one peice carbonfiber hoods ,fiberglass hoods and even a few other goodies for the first gen
NO MORE HEADER PANEL
there is stuff out there ,just have to look around

you want a headder ??? headman/chikara makes one for a good price ,how about a CAI the ebay 88 to 91 crx ones fit nice if you flip the one pipe upside down

you want a full exhaust ??? pacesetter makes one for a good price ,but i heard there crap ,same goes for there headders lol ,just get one bent up for 100 bucks and throw a fart can a magnaflow or whatever you want ont he end lol

dont give up on the first gen because it hard to find parts and what not ,thats the fun part ,and you wont be like everyone else with a 2nd gen just kidding guys there cool too

 

and for the clutch check the cable ,see if it is loose ,there is a plastic nut you just turn it and it will tighten maybe its just loose and if you need a clutch they sell EXEDY ones on ebay for cheap like 100 bucks
