Default 2001 CBR 600 F4i

Hey, I'm an incoming freshman in college, and I have a quick question.

I came upon a 01 cbr f4i with 15k. It is bone stock except for an underbody kit. The only things known that are wrong with it are a one inch scrape on the right fairing and a small ding on the gas tank. The guy is asking $4000.00. He said that's what he paid for it a year or so ago. He's not in a rush to sell it but he has a baby on the way so thats why he's selling it.

I don't really want to spend 4k on a bike, is this a good deal though? Can I find one similar or any 600 (brand isn't a big deal) for around 3k? year 2000 or above?

Thanks

I don't think you'll find a 600cc bike newer than 2000 unless it's a Kawasaki or a Katana, that's in good condition atleast.

But a few things:

1. WhO TyPeS LiKe ThIs aNyMoRe? MuCh LeSs a SeNiOr iN HiGh sChOoL.

2. Do you have any prior riding experience?

3. Have you priced out gear and insurance? (and the MSF if you haven't taken it/have no experience).

4. Have you read the sticky at the top?

1. WhO TyPeS LiKe ThIs aNyMoRe? MuCh LeSs a SeNiOr iN HiGh sChOoL. - I do what I do.

2. Do you have any prior riding experience? - Yes I've grown up on dirtbikes since I was about six years old. Never ridden a streetbike, ridden a few street legal dirtbikes, though.

3. Have you priced out gear and insurance? (and the MSF if you haven't taken it/have no experience). - Yes I have, MSF is 250 and I plan on taking it within a month of getting the bike.

4. Have you read the sticky at the top? - Yes...

As for the other guy, you're a moron. period.

4k seems a bit high for an '01 with damage. F4i's don't seem to sell too well anywhere. Assuming the only things wrong with it are the scratch and dent, $3500 would be a good deal.

To be honest, for just tooling around campus, a scooter is probably perfect.

Why would you assume that I want to 'tool around' and not ride?

I want a sportbike for the reason that I want to start riding seriously, not ride a metropolitan around campus. I'm not living on campus and I doubt I'll be riding on or to campus with the bike. It's more for a sunday morning ride or summer days...
