Anybody know much about the CVT-7 transmission?
Was looking up info about the Fit and came across some info that other countries have a CVT-7 transmission and we don't. So I was wondering if you guys knew much about it. I'm just curious to know if its good.
7 gears seem a lot better than 5 gears. Why didn't we get it then?

Just cause its a 7 speed doesnt mean its better! lol! They also have 4 wheel drive in other countries they arnt rated that well either! Thats just how it goes! I wouldnt worry about it the Fits tranny over here is just fine!
Besides you already have a 1.5L that gets great gas mileage so why would you need 7 gears? You would be shifting every 1,500 rpms!
I would be more worried why we didnt get the Honda NSX-R or any other of the great Honda stuff that they wont release here not a 7 speed Fit tranny!

Uh, the question was, "Anybody know much about the CVT-7 transmission?" So why did you speak up? The CVT-7 is a continuously variable transmission (a type of automatic), NOT a 7 speed manual.
I was asking if someone actually knew about it like experience with it or other knowledge you can't just get out of a book. And yeah I know its a automatic... I never said anything about it being a manual.
The Fit CVT is problem plagued. The start clutch is a problem and they have changed the fluid formulation several times and finally MAY have come up with one that really works but now you have to buy it only from honda. Go to foreign Fit/Jazz sites and you will find a bunch of threads on their problems

Thats true.. im in asia and i own the GD1 for 10years. i replaced the start clutch just 6 months ago. it seems like honda have made some modification on the new one which im not sure if that should solve the problem. lets see how it goes.
