Default '99 OEM CD Player in '97 problem...

I purchased a fifth generation OEM CD player from a member on here last week, it came today, everything looked great. I went to install it... Uh oh... Clip doesn't line up with the pins, or the socket.

I asked when I bought it if it would fit '97 Preludes, he replied that yes it would fit... I guess he didn't know that '97 has a different plug, honest mistake, I'm not holding it to him.

But my quesiton is, is there ANY way to make this CD player work in my '97? There's a marking on the top of the player "February 1999".

So does anyone have ANY idea about this? I'm going to be pissed if I wasted $50.

take it to a speaker shop and have them hardwire it into your system...when i bought my 92 the asshat that owned it before me cut the whole freggin harness out of the dash for the radio. I bought a JVC mp3 radio and had it hardwired in for like 40 bucks. works great.

^ It was out of a '99-'00 Prelude, I'm sure of it. It came with the brackets and pocket, and it screwed right in and right the trim perfectly. It's from a BB6, but the '97s plug is different from the other models.

So I'm hearing I should just take it to a speaker shop and have them figure it out? Or is there an easier way to do this?

you'll need:
99+ radio harness(any honda)
97-98 aftermarket radio harness (honda of course)
you would have to strip and crimp the wires together. you could get the wiring diagram from installdr.com simple as that.
