Default Highway Issues

hey guys i just came back from upstate and when i was on the thruway i noticed between 70-80 mph the car seems a little unstable. Ive always noticed this but this time i had a friend of mine drive it on the thruway (he owns a 350z) and he said the car was pulling. Now the car is brand new, no accidents, tires are fine the only thing i can think of is that the stock ride height seems kinda high effecting the center of gravity. Anybody else with similar problems? Would lowering springs give the car a more solid, stable drive? Thanks in advance

I would start with your dealer to have them check your alignment and suspension assembly. After I got my car, it pulled to the right pretty heavily during hard, straight acceleration. I got it checked out and it was just an alignment issue.

It is unstable on highway with heavy wind at high speed. If it's not alignment problem, it is just how the car is. I get blown all over place on highway when the wind is really heavy.

your state must have superb highways. Highways over here have bumps all over the place, I swear some of them are so big, when I'm going over them at 70, my car flys for .5 second in the air.

I had my car in the shop today b/c it was pulling horribly under accel, decel, and highway driving. I knew the reason was due to the fact that when they put two new tires on my car they stuck both on the right side of the car instead sticking the two new ones on the front.

The guy at the shop told me though, that a tread difference of 1/32nd of an inch can cause pulling. Just food for thought.

Yea that's true... 5+ lanes, some concrete, some asphalt, all new pavement...

There's a few bumpy spots, but not many.

your friend has a RW drive car so hes not used to torque steer. thats all it is. most FW drive cars with descent power has it. Everytime i let off the gas on the freeway my car starts to drift over also. When the car is pulling you are automaticaly countering the drift. Let off and you are still slightly turning the wheel so the car moves over. It pulls cuz only 1 tire gets power. I dont no if these cars have limited slip or not where both tires grab when the main drive tire slips. I dought it cuz of the VSA. last part was off topic a bit but you get the idea

torque steer happens during accelleration, not when you let your foot off the gas.

You are more likely feeling the crown on the road. Almost all roads have a slight crown, meaning they are raised a bit in in the center. On divided roads it will be along the far left side of the left lane or in the center of each side, but on non-divided roads it follows the yellow stripe.

This is done to get rainwater to flow off the sides of the road. It can affect your steering in many cases and most cars will pull a bit to the right due to the crown.

To properly check for alignment issues get on a flat area like a parking lot.

Well, I live in CA, and I go to AZ very often to visit my best friend. And most of you probably know on the way to AZ you have to pass palm springs, they have very heavy wind there... and I only have stock suspension(not even a HFP suspension) and my car seams really stable(for a stock car I mean), I mean even when I'm passing 18 wheelers... and my top speed was 130(sheesh~~~don't tell momma) but anyways I owned a RSX before and I had Konig shocks and Ground controls on that thing. The ride seems fairly equal, but..... who knows.......maybe I'm stupid... and can't even notice the body pulls or rolls... hehe

Anytime i let off the gas on the freeway, the car pulls due to me countering the pull. im pretty sure i explained that. Letting off the gas completely, not eesing off to slow down a liitle
