TEXAS GUYS!
Most of us cannot go to EXPO 7 so let try to get something together at Texas World Speedway located in Bryan/College Station. It is an ex-nascar track that has a road corse in the middle. I race CMRA races there (Motorcycle road racing) events there and the track is in tip top condition. So give me some input guys!
If anybody from the DFW area is going, please let me know as I need somebody to bring my fin to expo. I kind of didn't think about it when I shipped everything out there while the car stayed in FL... woops.

We can meet up here:
http://www.thedriversedge.net on July 14
There are videos of this track on youtube (can't find them now at work). The track has great elevation changes (great for Texas) and seems technical.
Also:
This miata site lists all autocrosses in the area: http://www.dfwmiata.com/compon...id,66/
I don't know if you guys realize how GREAT of an autocross site you have here in the Dallas FW area (Mineral Wells).... I just did an autocross that was 105+ seconds long, 4th gear, 80mph.... etc.... unheard of in most places.
I am also doing a June 30th PCA Time Trial at Mineral Wells ( http://mav.pca.org/Events/Cale...=2007 ) .... think of a marriage between autocross and a roadtrack. This should be fun.

I don't think they will close down TWS because that is the best roadracing track in texas,,unless you want to race on a gocart racing track that is in henderson!haah

Craig, not going this year. Got a baby son on the way, due on June 26th. I absolutely will make it to next year's Expo for sure.
For those of you who have NEVER gone to an Expo, dont let the distance be your deciding factor. Its a lifetime opportunity to go this event. You will make friends you will never forget and have memories that will be with you for the rest of your life.

The way i understand it is it is all ready sold to a new owner and the track will honor all previous contracts this year " 07" but after that it will no longer be a track....
TWS is a dngerous track for any novis so i do not recomend it but both of the MSR tracks are fantastic...

Mineral Wells is ok, but was too gravelly for me last time I ran there (admittedly, this was '01/'02).
The best Autocross Course I've ever seen was the complete Nationals course laid out in '01 by Texas Region SCCA in the parking lot at Texas Motor Speedway. Times were over 120 secs if memory serves, and I hit 3rd gear in full VTEC on both the back straight and increasing radius slalom at the end of the course.
I don't have any cash for the next two years (trying to buy a house), but I'd love to show up and point and laugh in July if we're going to meet up. It's been a while!

Sounds good
I suggested the July 14 Drivers Edge thing because I would like to do a car related activity.
What type of event are you thinking? I used to plan events for the Northeast crew called R-speed (in da house!!....anyway...) and used the following criteria:
1. We met at a relatively central place and hanged out for a bit. Sort of created a car show for people. Didn't get too much harrassment from those of the law or below the law.
2. Drove together to an out of the way place (usuallly a cookout location at a state/local park) The drive typically had some nice roads to... ahem... "exercise"
Or we met and attended the World Challenge races at Limerock or just met up at an autocross or trackday.
Our challenges in Texas and possible solutions:
1. What do we do? = hangout can be anywhere; car event = pick an autocross or track day
2. Location = my Church has a place near Corsicana. If I get approval to rent, it has cookout places, softball field, basketball, fishing (catch/release), etc. If not there we have to choose some sort of facility or car event
3. Timing = maybe after Summer to not deal with the heat and give time to organize.
etc. etc.
I am willing to do this if we can get people involved. I have no idea how many ITR's in Texas or on HT.
