air fuel guage

Someone might know Iam a little off on the difference between a wideband one and just one for airfuel. Dosent one only take readings at idle and the other one all the time. Would like to know if there is a huge difference not to sure just would like to save a couple hundered if I can thanks guys for the help.
i was digging through some boxes from my old hatchback...... found an auto meter a/f ratio gauge. Too bad im dumb as dirt when it comes to wires. yup, i know, its only 3 wires, right? have no clue what to do......
