Default Rear bumper damage

I wont go into the embarrassing details but my new 06 Civic got dinged on the right rear bumper. There is some paint missing as well as scraped down to the rubber at one point. Plus, on the trunk, right at the angle is a small (half dollar size) dent. We are taking it to our insurance approved body shop this week. Can this look like new again? Assuming they will replace the bumper. Any similar exp with bumpers? Pls let me know what to watch out for.

Well, considering your insurance will cover the bill... I am sure it will get fixed and looking like new...

Agreed they will fix your right up, but don't let them repair the bumper make sure that they replace it.

and dont take the car back unless your happy. check the trunk when you get the car back and make sure you cant see where they bondo it. Look for little ant head sized bumps and dings. I got screwed on that a few years ago

If it's repairable, they will repair the bumper. Insurance won't just replace it cause you want a new one. They do what's cost effective. If the labor rate is $43.00/hour for body and it's a 3 hour repair that's $129.00, a rear bumper lists for $260.82. It's more cost effective in that situation to repair over replace. All depends upon the damage (tears, mount tabs broken off, etc...), but insurance will always go with what's cheaper. You could always buy the new bumper and have them subtract that out of your deductible

also make sure they use oem bumper and not what they call cost effective bumper. They pulled that **** on my truck when i got it fixed. didnt care cuz it was a POS, but i would care on my new civic

i'd talk to your insurance and see if you bought an oem rear bumper if they'd cover the painting costs.. which would most likely be cheaper then the repair and paint on your old bumper.
