2003 EP3 - Toda High Power Exhaust Install - 56K Ka Blaow
First things first ... this exhaust will not fit on a USDM EP3. You must either install a RSX-S header/downpipe & cat or a RSX-S race header with this exhaust (the downpipe/cat section on the RSX-S is about 4 inches longer than that of the EP3). It is meant to be installed on the EP3 Type R. I was able to pick up a RSX-S header/downpipe so I went down that path until I purchase a race header in the future. Toda Exhaust purchased through Clayton @ King Motorsports!
I am sure all EP3 owners know our stock exhaust is very, very restrictive and there is plenty of power to be found by upgrading your stock system. I'm not sure of the stock piping sizes, but it can't be over 1.5" in diameter. I took some quick measurements (they aren't exact, but in the ballpark is good enough) of the stock EP3 header/downpipe and compared it with the RSX-S header/downpipe.
EP3 - header/downpipe connection - approx. 2.0"
DC5-S - header/downpiper connection - approx. 2.5"
I went with the Toda exhaust primarily due to quality and performance. I am very familiar with their products due to use in the past and have always been impressed. I'm not sure on sound at this second since I have never heard this exhaust installed on an EP3 ... install should be complete by the end of the week so I will have sound clips posted then. The exhaust is polished stainless steel with a titanium tip. Inner pipe diameter measured out to 2.5".
Install has been a breeze ... Toda provides all new hardware (nuts, bolts, springs, gaskets, etc) with the exhaust.
And now on to the pics during the install ...

Fit has been perfect thus far ... the exhaust tip clears the bumper with no issues.
I will be posting more pics/sound clips once the install is complete at the end of the week.
Also plan to make it to a dyno after my next round of track events in the next couple weeks. Will have before and after plots available at that time.
Enjoy the pics for now ... feel free to ask any questions.

I used all my ugly pennies ... saving the pretty ones for later!
Yes, this is one of the most expensive exhausts on the market for our cars and I bet you can find cheaper alternatives that will perform just as well. I went with this setup to be unique and try something that no one (that I know) has done. I've never seen this exhaust on an EP3 in the states ... I'm guessing there has to be someone else out there ... but I haven't been able to find any info. Also, wanted to kinda stay with the Type R kick I am on ... I have a lot of JDM ITR goodies on the car so might as well keep going down that path!
Thanks for the replies ... will keep everyone posted!

This is the MAIN bottleneck in the EP3. The muffler itself is very free-flowing. That's why it is wise to replace the B-pipe.

HI man nice pursache.
I've bought one but it's made for de dc5-r. i've bought it in a JDM junkyard for really cheap.
For now i've just install the muffler to check the sound but without the resonator it's not really the true sound.
The probleme is that the b pipe did'nt fit cuz it's a little bit longer and end not in the same angle that the ep3 one.
So I don't know if I have a other solution but I think i'll install only the muffler and resonator and i'll install a custom b pipe.
The other probleme is that the tip is a little bit too long and it was burn my usdm bumper, it clear really well the jdm bumper but it's one inch more long.
here's pics.

So i dont know if someone have a solution here. I've order an megan sorty headers, so maybe I can do a custom downpipe/Cat.

I'll have video and sound clips available ... exhaust manifold gasket showed up yesterday ... exhaust manifold stay should be in tomorrow.
Do someone know if I can Install my entire toda catback DC5 specific on the ep3 without modifying the midpipe?
If I put the CD5 Headers with the DC5 cat do I'LL have the right combinasion or it will be too long?

you'll still be too long ... I am running the DC5 (RSX-S) header with my EP3 Toda exhaust ... just finished the install tonight ... fit is perfect! You need to get the EP3 specific exhaust or you'll just have to live with yours being a little on the long side.
one of my 02 sensers.... didnt come out... blah the white one... now i have to get another one tomarrow! ugh!
But for the tips I don't care, I only whant to know if it possible to install a dc5 specefic cat back on a ep3, cut it seams to be the same length of the ep3 one exept for the angle of the flange on the mid pipe.
I,ve just receive the megan shoety headers, can I install it with the rsx cat on the toda catback6

hey just to let you know dont over tighten the bolts on the resonator, about 4 or 5 people i know who have the toda exhaust (including me) have a cracked resonator because of that. now im running a straigh pipe, no resonator ftmfw, but its loud as hell.
How did you manage the wires for the O2 sensors? I did the same thing to install a JDM Fujitsubo exhaust on my EP, and I had Casper Electronics make a pair of extensions to add to the sensor wires. They list 12" extensions on their site, but that's way too long; so I asked for a custom size, and got them within a week.
all piping is 2.5" inside diameter ... bad picture angle on my part. I made some videos over the weekend just need to upload them to my server and I will have them available .... stay tuned!
