Upgrade the H22a1 trans
Hello, I am the proud owner of a 99 coupe with a h22a1 swap. I was wondering if any of you lude-heads could fill me in on what i can do to either a.) Upgrade my existing tranny or b.) if i would be better of getting my hands on a b series tranny of some sort. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
can't use a B series tranny in a prelude
search around about the Euro R tranny but good luck finding one I'm sure like 90% of this board is trying to find just the tranny heh

You CAN use a B-series tranny in an h series motor. There is an adaptor plate made specifically for that purpose.
Apparently, it doesn't fit into a prelude chassis though, I'm unsure of civics.
To upgrade your existing tranny, you could install an LSD or a final drive.

Maybe to throw a curve ball at this.....because I am also wondering this as well. I know you cut a mount out for an H swap into a Civ/Teg. If you decided to go H2B in the future.....do you just have to weld the Civ/Teg mount back in?
I personally can't see why anyone would do an H swap into a Civ/Teg without an H2B these days. The list of reason just goes on and on.
This is the question I ask though......WHY?
What is this car being used for?
I use a 5th gen Trans in my setup because I wanted the slightly longer 3rd gear. I roadrace so being able to tap 100mph+ in 3rd makes a difference for me, as well as avoiding 5th gear on long straights by having a considerably longer 4th.(M2F4 vs M2Y4)
Not to mention being able to TRAP in the 1/4 in 3rd as well without being out of my powerband......Yes, I do make power to 8300+ though.
If youre looking for fuel economy on the HWY....JDM Trans FTW!! .787!!!
~30mpg with Cams/Bolt ons at 75-80mph!

A trans is NOT going to help you much there.....
Weight reduction and tuning FTW!
My friends EuroR Si Coupe went 14.0 with i/e on street tires......
